Why are we asking for a donation?
We are a young company. With your donation, we can concentrate 100% on our project, bringing more groups to Ecuador.
Our first goal is to accomplish in one year with:
- Reforest the dry forest with 10,000 trees
- Clean beaches, sea, estuary and ria of 5,000 Kilograms of garbage
- improve the infrastructure of communities with bamboo constructions, e.g. shaded sites, ecological signing and seedbeds
The impact
We are working together with ONGs on the coast of Ecuador.
The impact is not only the improvment of living conditions and the supporting of the nature if not also the economic situation in this region. People who are full of hope will be glad to work and see their town improving. Also we want to bring back native fauna by planting native trees which also have an influence on stabilizing the soil watering.
Gradually, we are including other projects in our program that are located in other parts of Ecuador.

About us:
Already for years, we, José and Susanne, have been active in various tourism areas in Ecuador. It was always our suit to show the visitors the culture and the nature in an interesting and responsible way, getting to know each other joyfully.
After the earthquake on the coast of Ecuador in 2016, the people of the whole country got together and supported the affected coastal region. In addition, many foreign organizations carried out a large part of the relief work. We also supported the affected people as best we could with donations and deeds. But even then it was clear to us that we wanted to help in the long term and on a larger scale.
Now we have found a new way to support people and nature even better. Developing and supporting well-organized and structured volunteer group projects allows us in relatively short time to execute efficiently projects, which improve the life conditions of people sustainably as well as regenerate and protect nature.
Our company Happy Pachamama concentrates at the beginning on the coastal region affected by the earthquake. Gradually, other, carefully selected projects throughout the country will also be included.
- Team:
Susanne Stahl: My professional life started with an apprenticeship as a travel agent. During my following tourism and economics studies in Germany, I came to Ecuador for an internship semester, where I worked for a tour operator company. From the very first moment, I felt at home here and after finishing my studies, I chose this fantastic country as my home. After one year working as a translator on tours in the Amazon region, I decided to study again in order to obtain a license as a National Travel Guide in Ecuador. On my following many journeys, I had many wonderful and indescribable experiences, which I owe to the natives and also to nature. Therefore, it is very important to me to support the locals as well as nature in the best possible way, responsibly and effectively. Thanks to all project participants and project managers for your excellent and cordial contribution.
José Valenzuela; called Pépe: Originally, I am from the largest city in Ecuador, the coastal city of Guayaquil, and have also lived in the capital Quito for several years. Even as a child, I loved to be outside exploring nature and getting to know Ecuador together with my whole family. At home, we have always opened our doors to visitors from all over the world and taken part in exchange programs. Therefore, I have very good friendships all over the world. I enjoy getting to know other cultures. Maybe this is the reason why I like to surround myself with people of all nationalities and I love to travel in Ecuador as well as abroad. I have years of experience working with tour operators. However, I leave the organization of the volunteer groups to Susanne. I am happy to be able to supervise the projects, which I often accompany on site, to get to know you and to make together with you the world a Happy Pachamama.
- General information:
We, the team of Happy Pachamama, owe Ecuador, its people and nature many wonderful experiences. This is one of the reasons why we have made it our mission to support people and nature here in Ecuador.
We support responsible and well-organized volunteer projects. We work together with project partners on the coast of Ecuador, which we support annually with several volunteer helper groups coordinated by us. The already existing projects can now be strengthened and expanded by Happy Pachamama, as well as new ones can be developed, introduced and implemented. Thanks to the projects, the living conditions of the people in disadvantaged areas can be improved and nature can be supported. After your voluntary work in the project, you see the helpful result that there is thanks to you. Depending on the project, this could be the improving of the regional infrastructure sponsored and built by you, or planted trees, etc. Through reforestation, the native flora can regenerate and the species of animals displaced by deforestation can settle again.
Why reforestation is so important?
Happy Pachamama focuses mainly on reforestation. The importance is given because in recent decades there have been cultivated introduced plants, which damage the existing ecosystem. For this reason, it is possible to observe changes related to the existence of water and the species of animals that populate the affected area. In addition, great damage has been observed after the earthquake in 2016. Normally the roots of native plants have the effect that the soil does not erode. As there are missing native trees in the area, one of the results of the earthquake was the formation of large fissures in the soil as there were no roots to stabilize the soil.
