Starting in the fall of 2012, Sabrina Liedtke created Style on the Hill (SOTH) as an online platform documenting every aspect of style, entertainment and culture throughout KU and the Lawrence community. Since its humble beginnings, SOTH has garnered more than 1,300 fans, reaching more than half a million Facebook users, with a combined following of more than 1,000 Instagram and Twitter followers. Now the 25+ staff is expanding its content to an exclusive print publication titled “The Hill,” which will be dedicated to entertainment and lifestyle content. It will be the only publication of its kind on the University of Kansas campus.
What you need to know
- 80-page, bound publication complete with full-length articles and full-color photography, as well as an original layout and design – all created by KU students.
- Circulation of 2,500 copies distributed on campus, residence halls, Greek houses, lecture halls, and supporting businesses.
- Published twice a semester with the inaugural copy being released April 30 at the launch party, and the remainder of the copies becoming available to the Lawrence community on May 1.
- Digital copy of the magazine available for viewers to access on their tablets, computers and smartphones.
Why should you support The Hill?
Our talented staff of KU student writers, photographers and designers have devoted a great deal of time toward making The Hill a source of pride, sometimes even at the expense of our academics. Our team considers this endeavor more promising, challenging and worthwhile than any classroom exercise, as it provides us with an educational and realistic opportunity to demonstrate our initiative and creativity.
Anyone can blog and start a website, but not everyone has the dedication, innovation and tenacity to publish a print magazine.
Support the creativity and hardwork of KU students now!
