From The Creator

Hi, I'm Marc and I am the creator of SwitchLok. I'm a father of two little kids, a mediocre (but aspiring) triathlete and a bike commuter, I was frequently driving, running and riding without a great spot for my phone to come along. Why was everything so clunky, uncomfortable or bulky? Why couldn’t there be a simple, convenient and seamless way to have your phone with you?

After years of frustration, I decided to do something about it: leveraging 14 years of aerospace engineering experience, I created SwitchLok. Initially, it was just an evening project: I'd sketch some ideas, put together a model in CAD, get a 3D print and take it out for a test run or ride. The process was fun and the product was getting better all the time. Soon, people at work started asking about it and if they could buy one. Eventually, I quit my job and went all in. I poured over every detail of how the case should feel in your hand, what the perfect armband would be and most importantly, getting the SwitchLok interface just right.

Now I've brought SwitchLok to Indiegogo and I am so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this incredible community. All of your support is deeply appreciated and I know that once you try SwitchLok, you will absolutely love it.

SwitchLok Mounts in Detail

The SwitchLok Case is the centerpiece of our system and we designed it with comfort, performance and style in mind. Textured sides, a thin profile, responsive buttons and spacious port cutouts mean its a pleasure to handle. With a rigid plate shielding the back of the phone, shock absorbing TPU (rubber-like material) around the sides, and a generous lip above the screen, your phone is well protected.  We also include an optional tether for extra security.  Our case is built for the iPhone X and XS. If you have another phone, we've got you covered! Check out the adapter below.

At just 0.1 inches thin, the SwitchLok Adapter allows you to use nearly any modern phone with the SwitchLok system. It provides the same amazing auto-alignment and security as the case. Simply peel the cover off the industrial strength adhesive, line it up and stick it on. If you love your case, this is the ticket.

Note: For the adapter to work properly, your case must have 2.5 x 2.5 inches of flat space on the back of it. Silicone coatings may prevent proper adhesion and due to the large variety of case thicknesses, we cannot promise that Qi charging will work,

Do you run holding your phone? Maybe you shove it into one of those plastic pockets? The SwitchLok Run mount was made for you! Change songs or take a quick picture without stopping--it's so simple. It's also the most comfortable armband you will ever find.  The SwitchLok Run mount has a smooth, curved profile to comfortably rest on your arm. The elastic is soft and smooth, totally different from the stiff, scratchy bands you're used to. We lined the interior of the band with grippy material to keep it comfortably in place.

If you use your phone for navigation or music in the car, you need the SwitchLok Drive mount. Do you ever  wonder if your phone is centered on that cheap magnet or get frustrated by strange clamps to pry apart?  The SwitchLok Drive mount blows everything else out of the water. Not only does it lock your phone securely into portrait or landscape but it automatically aligns it so that it perfectly engages each and every time. It's signature 'click'.

We know you don't want to wait any longer for SwitchLok, so we already started the manufacturing process. The timeline below shows each step in the process and we expect to begin shipping SwitchLok in June.

Risks and challenges

Manufacturing 
We've already started the manufacturing process so many of the risks have already been eliminated. We are working with a highly reputable manufacturer that has the capability to execute our initial launch and much more as needed. We also personally visited our manufacturer’s location overseas and met not only with the manufacturing team, but each material source vendor. This was to ensure that we could have a productive business relationship and that they ran a professional operation. We are confident our experienced manufacturing and logistics teams will overcome any potential challenges and deliver a high-quality product you’ll be excited to own and experience.

Design and Performance 
For the last 18 months before launching our project on Kickstarter we tested numerous prototypes in the field and put each case and mount system through a variety of real-world tests. Over 60 people participated in a beta test, ensuring that SwitchLok works as it should.

What Risks Remain? 
While we have done everything possible to reduce risks, there are always potential pitfalls. The most likely thing to go wrong will be some manufacturing or logistics mistake that will lead to short delays. With the engineering and manufacturing experience of everyone involved, I just can't see us failing to deliver a product. However, if we are talking catastrophic problems, our biggest concerns are: 
- Unforeseen problem: We just miss something. 
- Geopolitical Turmoil: In the last year, we have seen international disagreements affect trade in severe and unpredictable ways
