ABOUT THE STORY

TAINTED tells the story of cheerleader Creek Wilden, whose life is dramatically changed when she loses the love her life Reid Williams in a bus crash. 

Creek falls into depression but something within her genetic makeup awakens an ability to see a hidden society known as the Viciat. The Viciat has been around for thousands of years and they have been placed in positions of power throughout the world. 

Throughout the course of the epic 5-issue series you will learn their secrets, Creek's connection to them and the underground movement known as the Julio Cross that has been setup to stop the Viciat.

In Issue One, you will follow Creek's story as she deals with the fallout of losing her first love, a peak inside the Viciat and an introduction to Octavius Farici, Creek's mentor.

ORIGINS OF THE BOOK

The first issue in a five issue series has been almost 2 years in the making. Creek has gone through many iterations from a variety of different artists., One of our later stretch goals will be to release a gallery book focusing on the evolution of Creek.

The comic also has a powerful and personal story. I created TAINTED because I wanted to help youth with mental health struggles. I wanted them not to be alone and why not add some fantasy elements to help with the message.

I suffer from Major Depressive Disorder and the past five years it has been getting progressively worse. I lost my job and have been hospitalized over five times. It is a daily struggle to eat and function.

So with my struggle, I decided to write a comic that would show a heroine who can use some of the teachings I have learned and help others who struggle. Young people with anxiety and depression have a harder time overcoming and understand the techniques available. Maybe seeing a hero their age will help with the fight.

The comic might be about a struggle with mental health but is also a fantasy story about fighting the demons within but also learning to prepare yourself for an unknown future. 

Spider-Man has a tagline "With Great Power, comes Great Responsibility." Creek's tagline is "Even in Darkness, we fight!"

PRODUCTION

There have been all sorts of risks and challenges with TAINTED over the course of producing just a first issue. But the first issue is completely finished. The second needs to be printed and shipped. This campaign will cover the cost of printing, shipping, cost overages and fully funding the third issue of the five part series. Each issue will be 24 pages.

TAINTED will be printed on 80lb almost cardstock paper with glorious glossy covers. The art will literally jump off the page it will be so beautiful. This will be a super high-quality comic.

Anything over our initial $3800 goal will go back to producing #3.
