Why it's important,
and why you might want to support it:
I'm a painter on a mission...
I will convey through my paintings my ideas and views
about some of the more pressing issues we face today;
-
social and economic justice
-
global warming
-
the lack of real democracy.
I want to paint very big and bold (think mural-size) allegorical paintings that demand attention. To do that, I need to expand the space in which I work. I've outgrown my makeshift kitchen counter studio.
So I hope to earn money towards the down payment of the studio space I found, by painting portraits and landscapes and selling the limited edition prints you'll see below. I will paint oil portraits of children, adults, pets and houses.
By helping me secure a space where I can actually work unimpeded, you'll
help me pursue my mission and grow into my full potential as an artist,
and a communicator. No artist can predict or presume that his/her voice
will be even noticed amidst the ruckus of modern life. But just maybe,
with your help, I can create works that will in some way help our
society find its way in these times.
The Goal:
Unlike other crowdfunding sites, It's not all or nothing. You get to keep anything you raise regardless of whether your goal is met or not. You'll see a goal of $30,000, but I'm not really expecting to raise that much here. Every little bit helps though, so if you see something that interests you below, and make a purchase I would appreciate it very much.
All proceeds will go toward the down payment for the purchase of the property. Once I've secured enough to cover that, I will begin renovations myself and hope to have it complete and to be working in the new space by Fall, 2016.
Perks:
You can choose from
greeting cards to small and large
limited edition prints, to commissioned
portraits or landscapes in oil in three different sizes. I will also send everyone who contributes a photo of the studio when it's finished.
Get Immortalized in
a painting!
Any contributor at any level who wants to be depicted in my first mural-size painting can be! Just send me a photo. The first painting will take on the issues of income inequity in our economic system.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Forget the $30,000...Whatever funds contributed go to me whether or not I reach the funding goal.
