Welcome to Tale Of A Wolf
Introduction
Tale Of A Wolf is a story driven, open world wolf adventure.
Set on the magical island of Sylvanna, you join Ako - an elemental wolf, who is the current guardian of the land in a struggle against the humans!
The core gameplay loop consists of;
- Exploring Sylvanna
- Helping your fellow animals
- Recruiting new pack members
- Taking down human camps
- Collecting essence
- Levelling up your abilities and your pack members
- Rinse, repeat!
- Challenge the Elementals!

The demo is set in Sector 4/6 of Sylvanna, has one mission available and will typically take around 30 minutes to finish. You can use a DS4 controller in this version, however it is advisable to use a keyboard to enter the menu when you rename your wolf pack - I will be adding support to enter names via a joypad at a later stage.
In this demo you will have the Ice Form at your disposal, please take a look at the 'Read Me' file within the download to get an idea of the controls and attacks.

Unique Features
Ako can transform into 7 elemental forms to protect the island, including fire, ice, water, lightning, earth, light and dark! You can decide your own form at the start of the game!![]()
Each of the elemental forms have a unique boss linked to them, these are called the Elementals. The Elementals were once guardians of the land themselves, until their lust for power consumed them!

Once the humans have been cleared from Sylvanna, you can seek out the Elementals and unlock all of their forms & abilities!
The Underworld
In death, your soul is separated from your body and you enter the Underworld. You will need to absorb spirits to return back to the physical realm!
Get ready to recruit your pack, explore Sylvanna, help other animals, take down the humans and restore the natural balance!
The Game World
Environment
The game features a realistic day and night cycle already implemented, including a range of weather states.

One moment the sun will be shining, then there could be a thunderstorm. Be aware, wolves hunt at night, and you may end up in someone else's territory.

Hunting
Wild animals and creatures roam freely - Deers, Bears, Fish, Toads, Hedgehogs, Crab, Rabbit, Fox.

You don't have to attack any animals within an area, that choice is yours.
Will you be an apex predator or a protector of the land?
Animals will need help on the island, keep an eye out for them as they will prove valuable along the journey.

Scent Vision
Scent vision allows you to easily identify a target from a distance whilst slowing down time.
Each living entity has its own colour designated.

Exploration
Tale Of A Wolf isn't all about combat - there are great awards awaiting those who like to explore! Tracking scents will award far more essence that anything that you can kill on Sylvanna!
Cave System
The island includes an extensive cave system, utilising Unity's new terrain tools and allowing the playable area to be expanded dramatically.

Creatures like spiders lurk in the dark corners of the map- you have been warned!
Fire Mechanics
Tale Of A Wolf offers a destructive fire mechanic, you can pick up branches scattered around the map and set them on fire if you go to a bonfire.
You can use fire to burn down human tents and equipment - any object set on fire, will be destroyed and there will be no way of restoring the object unless you load a previous save game.

All living things on the island are affected by fire, causing damage when coming into contact with the element.
Human structures and equipment can now also be destroyed using magical attacks.
Wolf Pack System
There will be other wolves on Sylvanna and not all of them will be friendly.

Prove your dominance and they will join your cause - later missions will require a pack in order to be completed.

Human AI
Humans have set up multiple bases of operations.
There will be an airport, shipping docks, large/medium/small encampment and stray camps to explore.
Each will have their own unique problem to overcome.
Use tactics to overcome the humans. You can destroy generators used by the humans to knock out power to camps - this will turn off power to all lighting, radar and radio equipment.

With no radio, the camp cannot call for backup.

As long as you approach an enemy from behind and they have not seen you, you will be able to perform a takedown kill which will defeat the enemy instantly.

So who am I?
Thank you for taking the time to look at my project. My name is Luke and I'm a developer from Oxford in the UK. Recently made redundant due to Covid-19, I'm looking to start my career as a full time independent game developer.

I have been working on Tale Of A Wolf for 12 months now, I love the project and I love working with the community to improve the project!
Originally I was funding the project myself, however after losing my job and my son being sick in the hospital at the same time this is no longer possible. I'm now hoping for your help to finish the project on time for the December 2020 release window!

The project was a success on Kickstarter in May 2020 where it was backed by 125 awesome Wolf-Lovers. I raised funds on Kickstarter back in May for the soundtrack and voice acting for Tale Of A Wolf.
