Short Summary

Tartarus is a fiction podcast about the staff of a secret Antarctic facility that houses hundreds of strange and dangerous monsters. Brie, Viola and Ellis face their most demanding and terrifying challenges yet in our next four episodes. We already have first drafts written and are hard at work on script edits. All we need is your help in paying our cast and crew!

The first batch of episodes followed astrobiologist Brie Lake as she began her new job as a Science Officer at Tartarus. She got off to a rocky start. You can hear her adventures on Spotify, Apple, Stitcher, Youtube, or wherever you get your podcasts (links below). Our first four episodes were a labour of love, with very generous friends contributing their talents for free. This year, we'd love to have a real budget to pay everyone involved for their hard work. 

What We Need & What You Get

To pay our talented cast and crew for this series, we're hoping to raise £2500. This will allow us to:

• pay the members of our writers room
• pay our producer/sound editor
• hire new actors for our new characters
• commission more visual artists
• hire a sensitivity consultant
• pay our returning actors
• pay our musician
• pay for advertising
• and cover indiegogo fees and perk costs

This will help us to create the four 30-35 minute episodes that make up the next release for our show. Each script is led by a different writer or pair of writers. Our new writers' room has already put many hours into writing, workshopping, and editing new episodes, and we couldn't be more excited to share these stories with you and continue the characters' journeys. This year Tartarus is even bigger and better. We have new areas of the facility to explore and unique new sound design elements in each episode.

The Impact

With your help we can afford to hire new actors for new roles and improve the diversity of our cast, hire more artists to create more beautiful visuals for the series, and pay our writers and sound designer for paving the way forward for our story. We're also planning to hire a sensitivity consultant this year, and pay our musician for scoring the show.

Tartarus is a show with a big future. We already have the endgame of the show figured out, and slowly but surely we want to make it there, while gaining more and more production experience and improving our storytelling and sound design year on year. There's so much life left in this project if we're able to make it financially viable. We're endlessly grateful to everyone who can help us crowdfund this second batch and keep our story going!

Risks & Challenges

We are committed to making our next four episodes no matter what. If we don't raise funds for our full budget, then our producer will forgo payment and may have to lower some wages for cast and crew and/or pay contributors out of their own pocket. But if you choose to fund Tartarus, you can be absolutely certain that your money will go towards making the next batch of episodes the best they can be.

Our production and recording has always happened remotely, at home over video calls, so we will be able to carry on making the show despite changing covid restrictions.

We will do what we can to get your physical perks out to you as soon as possible, but there's always the chance that production and shipping may take longer than expected. A potential risk might be your rewards getting to you later than we would like, but we are committed to fulfilling every shipment and will be keeping a close eye on emails and messages to handle any enquiries and issues.

There's always the risk you won't like the episodes we make! We have already worked really hard on this new series to make the stories, sounds, dialogue and character arcs as intriguing and immersive as possible. You can be sure we're doing all we can to make a quality product that matches up to and hopefully exceeds the success of the episodes we've released in 2021.
