The three time settings built into Tempo were chosen to optimize both your work and play. Pair different times together depending on your task and activity. 

Set a timer for a 25 minute focused work sprint. Journal for 15 minutes or meditate for 5 minutes. Or break down an hour-long activity into four 15 minute blocks.

To set a time, simply turn the dial to the time you want.

We took the classic hourglass and added a subtle but bold twist to combine the analog with the digital, the form with the function, and the work and life. 

We wanted to look for tools to help us spend our time better. We began exploring digital options… but physical tools help us focus and be present in ways digital tools simply can’t. 

The traditional hourglass was a good start...but it didn’t have the functionality to actually be useful. We had to take the traditional & bring it into the modern age. 

The adjustable hourglass combines the elegance of a traditional hourglass with the function of a digital timer. 

With Tempo’s adjustable mechanism, you control your time.

Tempo is designed to be complex in function but simple in form. The adjustable duration selector & quick release valve took us months to custom design. Tempo is built out of Borosilican glass, chosen for its durability.

WHY INDIEGOGO?

Our first crowdfunded campaign for our flagship product, the SELF Journal, was fully funded after 36 hours and raised over $322K. Since then we’ve helped over 100,000 people achieve their goals, be their best self, and build a life they love. 

But our mission extends beyond that. Our mission is to connect & inspire humanity to think bigger and achieve more, while enjoying today.

The hourglass is one of our first products we designed to capture the elegance of this mission. 

But we didn’t want to limit it to just our existing customers. We believe in this mission & we want to find people out there who don’t just believe in it too, but live it with us.

We want to find people who think big each day and are driven to achieve more, but never at the expense of enjoying today. Tempo is for the people who are conscious and intentional with their time.

What began as a simple business with a single product, the SELF Journal, has grown into a well-known brand with employees and customers worldwide.

Risks and challenges

At BestSelf, developing and launching products is at the center of everything we do. Since 2015, we’ve created and shipped 200,000+ products to customers all over the world. Fulfilling orders on time and maintaining the highest quality standards is what we do every day. 

We’ve got our prototypes fully made and ready to go, but there are still many challenges that can come up during the manufacturing process. Our team is ready to work with our manufacturing partners to make sure the custom adjustable mechanism is perfectly tooled and Tempo is properly assembled for a flawless user experience. We’ve been working with multiple manufacturers to ensure each piece of Tempo is developed by specialists and we’re preparing for mass manufacturing. 

Based on our past experience with our first Kickstarter and products we’ve developed since then, we expect to be able to stay on schedule with our production timeline, but we always leave room for the unexpected. We’ll keep you in the loop with regular updates to all our backers throughout the process.
