Short Summary
The Springfield Arts Council’s mission is to build a better community by sharing the performing arts with all citizens
of Springfield, Clark County,
and the region. The Springfield Arts
Council has been a part of the lives of our community for an entire generation
through our three performing arts programs. For 38 years -- Arts in the Classroom has provided over
a half a million students throughout Clark
County arts education
programs that enhance curricular learning and help develop an appreciation for
the arts. For 36 years -- the Broadway
& Beyond Series has brought national touring attractions to Springfield to perform at
the Clark State Performing Arts Center Kuss Auditorium. For 48 years -- the Summer Arts Festival has offered our
community thousands of admission-free music, dance, and theatre performances at
the Turner Pavilion at Veteran's Park.
The 2014 Summer Arts
Festival will run for six weeks from June 12th to July 20th
and will provide admission-free music and theater events to the Springfield community. Special
theme weekends will include a BBQ and Brews Fest, a Jimmy Buffett-inspired
Parrothead Party, and the Sip of Summer wine tasting. Regional performers at the Summer Arts Festival include The Family
Stone (legendary rock), the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra, Firefall, Pure Prairie
League, Night Fever – The Tribute to the Bee Gees, Aeromyth – The Tribute to
Aerosmith, and Salvador.
Local talent will be showcased during the performances of the Springfield
Symphony Orchestra, the Nehemiah Foundation’s “When Springfield Sings,” Griffin
House, “Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory” (a children's theater production)
and the musical “Grease.”
What We Need & What You Get
The
Summer Arts Festival costs over $300,000 to produce every year. Festival Expenses
include artist fees & hospitality (which can range from $5,000 to $20,000
per performer), concessions costs, marketing, printing, security, signage,
staff, etc. The Festival is supported by passing the hat, corporate sponsorships,
program ads, and grants but we need your support! This is YOUR Summer Arts
Festival! We want to ensure the Summer Arts Festival’s future and its
improvement through your support. Without the community’s enthusiasm and
financial support, we could not bring the highest quality of entertainment to Springfield
admission-free!
The Impact
The
Springfield Arts Council's Summer Arts Festival has been enhancing the quality
of life in the Springfield/Clark County area since 1967. It provides quality
performing arts programs to all citizens in the community admission-free. The
Festival attracts visitors to the area and stimulates our local economy. The
Summer Arts Festival is a unique cornerstone of our community. We need your
help to keep this tradition alive and keep improving the Summer Art Festival
for you and for generations to come!
Other Ways You Can Help
If you can not support the Summer Arts Festival
financially, please spread the word about this campaign to your friends and
family. Share it on Facebook, tweet about it on Twitter, email this page to
your community. You can also volunteer to sell raffle tickets or pass the hat
during the Summer Arts Festival by contacting the Springfield Arts Council
office. Or throw what ever you can (your change included!) into the hat when it
comes around at the Festival. Every little bit helps!
