About Me and My Project
Hello! My name is Rachel Gordine and I am a student at The New York Film Academy where I am working towards a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting. This is my final semester, so I am tasked in creating a web series pilot.
My web series, The Apple Pie Affliction, is about Elizabeth, a senior in high school who is completely alone. Her only escape is music, and that is what she plans to use to get out of her small town and to a place where she is surrounded by people who accept her.
I am from a small town of 8,000 in Nebraska, and while I didn't feel isolated like Elizabeth, I felt that in order to chase my dream I needed to leave. This story is very close to me and combines various truths in my life as well as fiction.
This is a great opportunity for me to showcase my writing, acting, and music skills. It also has a great message that everyone can understand.
What We Need
We need funding for the project as a whole. This will include funding for my talented crew, cast, and locations. Our budget of $2,500 will allow us to produce a professional pilot, which will give us a better opportunity to produce the rest of the series.
So What Do You Get?
We have many perks that vary by your contribution. Since Elizabeth, our main character, loves music, we have covers of songs available. I have been playing instruments since I was 4 years old, and have been singing for just as long. I would love to give you a gift that I personally create to show you how much I appreciate your contribution.
Below is a cover I've created previously!
You will also get the satisfaction of knowing that you have helped a college student receive her diploma and have set her up with a project after she graduates!
The Impact
This project has a great message. It tells people that they are never truly alone and not to be afraid of chasing your dreams. This is a message that is for everyone!
It also has a message against bullying. In school, no matter how much we try to preach bullying is bad, it happens anyway. I can remember having speakers come and talk about it and watching boring informational videos about it. I think that putting this message in an entertaining show, which would be on the internet, in a quick video will help kids accept the message. It is in a format that is really understood and used by them.
