ABOUT THIS PROJECT
In 2012 more British
soldiers and veterans took their own lives than those who
died fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan.
The demand for treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) for former military personnel that served in Afghanistan increased by 57% in 2014.
Returning from combat in Iraq and Afghanistan, many of our service men and women are faced with a whole new battle.
As these brave men and women attempt to reintegrate into society they often feel isolated and alone.
As the number of military personnel diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder continues to rise we unfortunately see many fall through the cracks.
In 2012/13 more UK and US soldiers took their own lives than died fighting the Taliban.
These numbers are rising.
While many forms of therapy continue to emerge to treat those suffering from PTSD, art therapy is one that has been proven by a number of studies to be effective in dealing with the after effects of trauma.
In this film, we will follow the lives of service men and women as they discover art, rebuild their lives, and find hope.

WHY IS THE ART OF HOPE ON INDIGOGO?
The Art of Hope will be submitted to several film festivals throughout the 2015/16 seasons. In order to do so we need to complete the film's production and editing as well as costs for Blu-rays, and DVDs in the correct formats.
We need to create and produce a website where we can provide important information on screenings dates and other general film information.
We plan to be able to provide online resources for veterans connecting them with their local art therapy groups and organizations.
Not all wounds are visible.
Together we have the chance to reach a veteran currently suffering in silence and perhaps offer a glimmer of hope for a more colorful future.
