I’m excited about returning to the big power ballads I’ve been known for through the years. There’s always the temptation in music to be the latest, hippest sounding artist.

But reality grips me now in my sixties and I actually find my audience hasn’t left. There was an era of music that was deep and profound with great lyrics that captured the glory of the Gospel.

I enjoy much of today’s music but long for the roots of my past. It’s like going back and listening to the groups and artists we grew up with. There’s a deep connection.

As I’ve thought and prayed through this next album project, The Balladeer, I want to combine the fresh sounds of today with the big power ballad style I did for years.

Some of the other songs on this new CD are love songs I’ve written for my wife and kids as well as the journey of looking more like my parents as I age!

But most of all they are a passionate expression of my journey in Christ and a heart that longs to look like him!
