About The Book

Please do not mistake this for any other fairy tale retelling. The Beast is cold, gritty, and undeniably passionate. The danger is real-- characters die. The love isn't sweet-- it's wild. It consumes.

It's the 19th century and the story takes place in a land nicknamed God's Cup, which is located between Greenland and Norway. The landscape and climate play a major part in this book. The cold is more than just scenery, it's also a threat. If the hellhounds aren't trying to kill Belle, the cold is. Even still, the dark seas, vast forests, and looming mountains, all blanketed with pure snow, create a vision to behold. 

I have loved the story of Beauty And The Beast my entire life. I never thought I'd get the chance to write this story. When the idea of hellhounds came to me, I leapt at it. How would this affect the story? How would it change the characters? I had to know. 

Why YA? The wonderful thing about young adult fiction is that it allows us to push boundaries. The lines of what is acceptable and expected are never quite clear. There's more freedom in that. What you can expect from this novel is a "happy medium" of both romance and horror. The romance is powerful, but being the victorian era there is no sex. In terms of horror, there are violent deaths. However, gore is kept to a minimum. I needed to stay true to the story, while allowing readers to feel safe in reading it. YA gave me a way to do that.  

This is book one of a quartet. The Hunter Legends goes beyond the fairy tale. It explores what happens after the supposed "happily ever after".

*As to be expected, there were added costs that I hadn't foreseen. So at this time, the book trailer hasn't been made. Instead, the $170 went to create amazing interior graphics for the paperback. I still hope to make a book trailer before the completion of the series.

Why Self Publishing/Crowdfunding?

The publishing industry is changing. Thanks to the digital age, authors can now bypass the publishers and go straight to the readers. The great thing about this is that I can keep full control over my work and publish as quickly as I'm ready. If I chose traditional publishing instead, I would have to give up my rights to my own novel and it would be a few years before it was in the public's hands.

Unfortunately, without a publisher backing me, I am left to cover all of the costs on my own. Even with the advances in digital publishing these days, the costs still begin to add up. At this point, I could clean out my bank account and still not have enough to cover the publishing of one novel. Since I plan to release the entire series this year, I certainly need some help.
