Summary
Hi, my name is Peter Danish and I’m the writer/director of a new film: THE BLIND DATE. I’ve spent 30 years in the television industry, written two popular novels and a best-selling business communications book (as well as countless industrials, commercials and PSAs.) I left the TV industry after a trip to Bosnia-Hercegovina, volunteering at a home for war orphans, changed my perspective on life.

I wrote the Blind Date after the 2016 election when I discovered to my surprise that so many of the students at college where I was working had not voted. I wrote the play as a cautionary tale for young people about the consequences of not voting. And we succeeded beyond our expectations. The play ran off Broadway – it won some awards – but most important – dozens of people wrote me saying that after seeing the play – they registered to vote!
The Blind Date is the story of a young woman whose idyllic life is shattered when, because of a change in laws, she is forced to make a horrifying decision – a decision no woman should have to make.

I am extremely passionate about this topic and I've been thrilled that so many wonderful artist share that passion. A dream team of Oscar winners and Emmy winners have signed on to the project - with most working pro-bono or at scale, because of their dedication to the message of the film. In addition, rock legend Jordan Rudess of Dream Theater is providing music for the film.

As Oscar-winner, Tom Fleishman (who is mixing the sound for the film) put it: "Arts, and story- telling in particular can be an extremely powerful way to communicate. Seeing the physical tangible results of action – or in this case inaction – makes it real in a way talking heads and numbers and statistics never could. It can affect real change." And so far THE BLIND DATE has done just that, it has touched young people in a meaningful way and motivated them to register to vote.
After Justice Anthony Kennedy abruptly resigned last month, and the prospect of this president named yet another justice on the Supreme Court loomed, I decided to take the message of the Blind Date to a much larger audience by making it into a short film. We want to bring the film to colleges all the county and clearly illustrate to young voters that elections have consequences – real, tangible consequences. And that the vote you cast this November will be the single most critical vote you cast in your entire lifetime.
In the U.S. before Roe v. Wade, an estimated 1.2 million U.S. women got illegal abortions every single year, and unsafe illegal abortions killed as many as 5,000 of them, according to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologist.

Risks & Challenges
We are 100% determined to make this film. Yet as with any production, scheduling and financial hurdles could stand in the way of finishing the project within the planned timeline.
We have an incredible team working towards our common goal, but out project is ambitious and our schedule is greatly accelerated, in order to be completed by the end of September. We want to have the film out by the beginning of October, to give it time before the mid-term elections in November.
That is the reason why time is so short and your support is so absolutely critical.
