The Story

The major purpose of The Blue Cage is to give a credit and bring up some interesting facts from a seamen’s lives and life’s of their families, sometimes running in generations that were marked by a seaman profession. 

Revealing secrets ''behind the scene'' of their life’s, their dreams, talents, fears and hopes and numerous adventures, The Blue Cage takes down a stigma from a prejudice and opens up new horizons and stories that will leave you breathless.

My story and reason why Blue Cage

My father has also been a captain for 30 years. 

As a little child, I used to wave goodbye in tears and wave hello with a smile on my face, and my heart. 

 It is a big challenge and a satisfaction for me to make a film showing a life of a seaman, show it to the whole world, with hope that the courage of the people going to the wild sea to support their families will travel the globe.

                                            About the author    

My idea is to make documentaries that inspire people and get them motivated to live, work, and succeed. As I come from the country that has some kind of ''post war'' syndrome and a lack of faith in peoples life, I'm trying to make a difference

My wish is to send my positive message to the world, and to emphasize the importance of discovering and revealing your potentials.

I had opportunity to point it out through a documentary about the eminent Croatian piano player Maksim Mrvica, known worldwide, a piano player who used the war years in Croatia, and the time when people were losing hope in progress to establish a worldwide carrier and to develop a unique talent.

                                                          EXTRA HINT

By showing it every year to a Maritime faculty freshmen’s, my expectations from  The Blue Cage are that it gives them wings to fly while taking over their professional path.

Even if it's hard for you to believe, 90% of world traffic and distribution is going through the sea traffic and it is happening thanks to our seamans all over the world. THEY DESERVE TO BE SPOKEN ABOUT

The Blue Cage is a document for people all around the world that spend their lives away from their family, that have missed some big and important events in their lives like child births and anniversaries. People who have to make a ''new'' family every few months, fight pirates and big waves.

I extremely believe in the Blue Cage, you know that feeling like when you're really in love? That's the way how I feel while watching the first scenes getting ready for editing, by watching the first frames of The Blue Cage becoming reality, by watching you joining in with heart in this sea adventure.

By making The Blue Cage, i sadly discovered many people had left this world, without being mentioned, not in one written or any other document, while leaving so much to navigation through their amazing lives.

Hi my name is Bruna. Not only because that I’m movie director, but also I’m happy and grateful because of the opportunity to make this kind of movie about emotional and adventurous life of seaman.

 And why am I so happy ?

Because I am seamans daughter, and I would like to share with you my 30 years of personal experience.

I would like to take you to the sea adventures that you will always remember instead to think and ask yourself – what if and how it would look like. 

I really hope that you will feel all love and emotions I insert in this movie, but also all power of energy that is taking it to its finish. This movie “The Blue Cage” is a sign of appreciation for all seaman’s but also thank you for all brave seaman’s wife’s who staid at home protecting and safekeeping the most valuable they have, and that is family…

My life brings you very strong and mix emotions, and we needed this kind of movie to combine all those emotions and to create something real and unique as this movie is. Modri kavez will infiltrate this strong emotion in your harts and keep it there ..

My name is Darko. I'm grateful to this movie, but also other projects because they enable me to explore myself, to see incredible world that only „person behind the camera“ is able to see. 

Also it is challenge to create extraordinary world for you who will be able to see in the movie what i saw by recording actual events and people.

The Blue Cage was a great challenge for me as camerman. My job is to edit this movie in the way you can feel dynamic and true sea story like never before, to watch it without eye blink and with full enjoyment in every moment. What I saw behind and around camera is really special and if I was you I would be very curios…

Hi, my name is Luka Radica, I’m sound technician at this project. I know seamen’s only as my friends not my family but this doesn’t means I don’t know what stereotypes and sometimes prejudice people have about seaman’s profession.  And because of that I’m happy and blest to be part of this team who will put the right light on profession and show the other side of the coin and stories that you are not able to see every day.

To be part of this team, this family is not just a job for me. It is privilege to become part of something really valuable and I’m blessed to be able to receive this privilege. So if you decide to give us your support and “board” to our ship and start this adventure with us you will not regret it.

When I was offered this, it  become my “dream job”, because I always wanted to create film music, and The Blue Cage was perfect project for this desire. Why ? 

Because, Modri kavez has strong emotion, dynamics, there is something real and truth in every second of the film. Also this is very interesting subject and for sure it will open a lot of doors for me as film composer … My job is to make this movie more attractive and interesting to you, I hope I'll do it well ;)
