Hi, I'm Brendan and I fundraising to help film a full length pilot of my comedy script The Bookies.
The Bookies is a comedy series inspired by the 8 years I worked within the betting industry with one of the major high street companies. The local betting shop to some people is just a place they can go and have a punt on the horses/dogs/football, but to many others it is a tight-knit community of friednship and support.
Most of the stories I have written for The Bookies have actually happened in betting shops up and down the country in some way, shape or form.
This is important to me as I have been writing and honing this script for well over 10 years and I believe it has the potential to have its own series.
My target to raise is £3k and this will be used to the full 30mins version 1st episode. The money will be used in various ways, mostly to secure a premises to use as the betting shop for approx a weeks worth of filming, but also to make sure that everyone involved gets paid fairly for their time and effort.
The Team and I have come up with several perks with a super unique one of having your confession heard by Sister Haitman (played by Paula Dunn), the local Nun in the series.
So if stealing a winning bet from a dying man, being held hostage, going to the Scottish Grand National, having Buddihst Monks organise a street fight and conducting a marriage in the middle of a betting shop all the while a blood donator believes he is Rambo, sounds up your street then The Bookies is the series for you.
Thanks
