The Story:

It's about a boxer who begins to lose his sight. He is faced with the ultimate moral dilemma of choosing whether to carry on fighting and risk losing his eyesight, or give up his dream of becoming world-champion.

Will the risk be worth fighting for?

The film is Executive Produced by Cornelius Carr, former World Middleweight Champion of the World.

"The Boxer" is a graduation film from Writer/Producer Nick Dearman and Director Max Lowenbein, both final year students on the prestigious Film Production course at the acclaimed Arts University College of Bournemouth.

The right medium for the film will be S16mm and will be shot in the Bournemouth / Southampton area.

2. INT. GENESIS ARENA - NIGHT

Genesis Arena - a modest boxing gym in the centre of Manchester. This is your typical, run-of-the-mill professional fight where there’s more pride than money at stake.
Danny, more of a boxer than a puncher, skillfully dances round his opponent, outclassing him laying a succession of combinations. Although flashy, his moves are reckless.

BAM-BAM-BAM! Another dazzling combination HURTS his opponent.
Danny dances around the ring throwing another big jab and hook. Danny’s confident demeanor is PUNISHED when his opponent lands a solid UPPERCUT...Danny backpedals.
Ricky, getting more and more hysterical beside the ring, SHOUTS for Danny to put him down...

The Project:

This is a highly ambitious project.

Large scale professional boxing matches are expensive to host and to shoot, but it is very much achievable. We are all extremely dedicated and passionate about the script and have already contributed as much as we can to the budget. However, this will not cover all of the costs, so we are turning to you to help us!

We want to make, not only the best film we can, but to also better ourselves as filmmakers.

This film will introduce us to the industry through festivals. Please help us to make it not only a reality, but an outstanding one. People need to see what real boxing is all about, and how much it means to the competitors, and demonstrate that it is so much more than just a brutal sport.

We hope to bring a new look to the boxing film genre by specializing in the POVs of the boxer during the fight scenes!

The Costs:

We need to raise $2000 USD on top of the money we have from our University budget.

The budget covers the cost of:

The sets: The hire of a championship-sized ring, a gym, an apartment flat, and the exterior of a nightclub, as well as materials and props to dress locations.

Equipment: A 16mm Film Camera, the hire of a stedicam as well as lights and lenses.

Actors: 2 main actors, 2 supporting actors, a crowd-full of extras, as well as food, travel, and accommodation costs.

Processing: A hugely expensive part of the process. Without it the film can't be shown!

The Appreciation:

Along with the huge thank-you's from the crew, we would like to show our appreciation by offering some perks that we have listed.

Other Ways You Can Help:

We are shooting in the Bournemouth / Southampton area, so if you are into boxing and love film, why not get in contact and become an extra!

Tell your friends! And ask their friends to tell their friends all about our campaign and send them to this page. Spread the word, like our Facebook pagehttp://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Boxer/225479537513988, and follow our producer Nick Dearman on Twitter http://twitter.com/#!/nickdearman for updates on the production process!

Ultimately this is about funding creativity, and if you choose to donate we will be given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make the film we've envisioned.

Thanks,

Nick, Andy, Max
