The Candidate is a short psychological thriller written and directed by Lucy Webb. Lucy, and the rest of our team, are all students of the Napier BA Film programme. We thank you for taking the time to consider our campaign. Allow us to tell you a bit more about our passion project and how you can help us out.
The Film
Jenna, a driven young woman trying to further her career, is nervous but excited to find herself invited to an exclusive and prestigious corporate event for STRAND ltd.
As she is introduced to her future colleagues by the domineering manager of the firm, Mary, her instincts tell her all is not right.
Against her will, she is dragged into a world where she doesn’t belong, and soon discovers that there is something more sinister hidden deep within the system itself.

Harris Palmer - Producer
Harris is our wonderful producer. He's had a passion in filmmaking for as long as he can remember and is excited to take on the task of orchestrating the production of 'The Candidate.' Harris says he was surprised with a camera on his tenth birthday and haven’t looked back since. Working on various projects across the UK including a documentary in Belfast last year. I have huge faith in my team and I really enjoy seeing a project come together like this one has.

David Lowe - Director of Photography
David is our hugely talented director of photography. David says working on this project and his job is to introduce a sense of paranoia and unease through the visual look of the film and help create the world of chaos Jenna has entered. David has worked as a Director of Photography during most of his time at University, with two shorts that he shot last year playing at the Glasgow Short Film Festival and the Edinburgh International Film Festival. His hope is that this film does the same.
