What's this all about?
My name is Brandon Jacobsen. In a couple of weeks, my wife Daisy and I are leading a group of 22 (mostly high school students) down to Greater Buenos Aires, Argentina. While we're there, we'll volunteer in a variety of ways, partnering with local organizations and churches to show God's love to the amazing Argentine people we meet. Because of how great they are, we know we'll receive a lot of love as well! This page is dedicated to one project in particular that we will work on while we're down there...
In Escobar, situated about an hour northwest of Buenos Aires, there is a retreat center called CENAMI. Over the years, people from the surrounding community, schools and churches have used this space to gather, play (usually "futbol"), and build community. Because of a lack of funding, many parts of CENAMI have fallen into disrepair. As a group, our hope is to breathe some new life into CENAMI by restoring the basketball and volleyball courts, the soccer field and by doing other small projects around the property. These restorations would be huge, because ultimately they would lead to the community utilizing this space more. In short, by giving CENAMI some TLC in this way, we (that includes you) would be breathing life into the community as a whole. And that's what this is really all about, people.
What We Need & What You Get
We're looking to raise a total of $1,000. Funds would go to the following things:
- Supplies to build a basketball hoop and restore the court
- Supplies to restore the volleyball court and soccer field
- Supplies for smaller projects around the property (in dorm rooms, bathrooms, and common areas)
As a thank you for supporting this project, we have a couple of perks available:
- At the $25 level, you will receive a mate (pronounced "mah-tay") cup, a bombilla (straw/filter), and a small bag of yerba (tea). Mate is the quintessential Argentine drink, and there's nothing quite like it, but perhaps you already know this...:)
- At the $50 level, you will receive the much-coveted Argentina Starbucks mug, a perennial classic.
Other Ways You Can Help
If you're not able to support the project financially, not a problem! We also highly value your prayers and thoughts as we embark on this short, yet undoubtedly life-changing experience. Many of you who are reading this have been before, so you can attest to how unforgettable it is to be able to be in Argentina and have an impact, however small it may be. I want to thank you for considering being a part of that impact in whatever way works best for you (financially, prayer, etc.).
Thank you so much for your support! Aguante Argentina!
