In
the 90's, The Crystal Maze, was one of the UK's favourite television
shows. Now we're planning for it to return as a live immersive
experience right in the heart of London!
You'll
get to play the maze just as contestants did on the original show -
placing you at the centre of the action. What we really want, is for
people to live the magic of the hit television programme for
themselves.
We
will be lovingly recreating the famous set just as it was on the
original show. All four famous zones will be present; Aztec,
Medieval, Industrial and Futuristic, not forgetting of course, The Crystal Dome!
We are delighted to be announcing the return of none other than the legendary Maze Master himself, Richard O'Brien! Richard won't be running around the maze himself, but he will be welcoming guests in time honoured fashion... to find out how, you'll just have to come along and see!

Audience
members will compete in teams, guided by their own personal Maze Master. Each
contestant will play games that test their intelligence, skill,
physical ability and mystery...ness. At the experience's finale, each
team will be rewarded for the amount of games they have won by
converting crystals into precious time in the Dome.
You
will be invited to form teams of 8. Don’t worry if you are a group
of 1 or 2, we'll find you some excellent team mates to tackle the maze
with. You can also hook up with your friends even if you pledge
individually.
4
teams will then enter the maze at once, moving through each zone before regrouping at the end to take on the Dome.
Depending
on how many crystals you collect, (remember 5 seconds per crystal!), you will have your allotted time in the Dome to collect as many
golden tickets as possible. Every winning team will get a place on
our leader board and win a fantastic prize.
Modern audiences want to do, not watch. In recent years, there has been a cultural shift towards entertainment that audiences can engage with in a more active way. More and more we are finding new audiences who want to experience, interact, and play as opposed to watch.
The Crystal Maze represents the perfect opportunity to do something for this new audience on a grand scale. That same audience who want more active entertainment are the ones who watched The Crystal Maze growing up- making this not just an innovative idea, but a dream come true for many people, including us!
YOU!!!
If you're reading this then you were probably alive in the 90’s and
therefore obviously watched The Crystal Maze religiously. At first
the venue will be 18+ and for adults only but in time we will open it up for
families and young’uns so we can pass down that all important
Crystal Maze wisdom.
Crowdfunding was a very deliberate decision because we wanted you guys to be involved from the very start. By pledging your support, you will become part of the team that brought back The Crystal Maze. You can also get yourself a ticket, so you can be one of the first to play the Maze. We have been approached by venture capitalists and angel investors but our preferred business partner is the British public. We want the fans to be the ones to bring back The Crystal Maze. Together we can bring back the greatest game show of all time for everyone!
The
main cost is without doubt the set - building a land of wonder and
amazement for everyone to enjoy. No expense will be spared as we rebuild the Maze in all it's former glory. With such a
large project, there are inevitably lots of other costs as you can see in our lovely 'Crystal' pie chart below. But really it's all about building the
most beautiful set possible for you guys.
The venue is at a secret location in central London, but rest assured it will be easily accesible to all!
Challenges
are definitely the name of the game. We've been working on this for a
year already and it has been quite the roller-coaster so far. We are sure
there will be more challenges to come, not least building the maze,
but with our team and skills we are confident that no crystal will be
left behind.
From the reaction we've had so far, we can tell how much this means to people and we are just as passionate as all of you guys about this project. There will certainly be difficulties ahead but we owe it to all of us to bring back The Crystal Maze. So whatever happens the show will go on!
If
you can't contribute but you still love The Crystal Maze don't worry
- you can still help!
Please
share this page and get involved on social media. The more people we
get involved the bigger and better The Crystal Maze will be!
A big thank you from the guys at Little Lion for checking out our page.
FAQs
Where
will this be?
At
a secret location in London. We can promise it'll be easily
accessible.
When
will it open?
Thanks to the incredible response we have had to find a bigger, better venue for the Maze. This has slightly changed our timeline and the Maze will now open in early 2016.
How
long will the experience last?
Approximately
1 hour 45 minutes, but audience members will be welcome to enjoy our
bar and viewing platform to watch other contestants go through the
Maze!
How
much will tickets be when you open?
£50 plus a booking fee.
How
long are you going to be open for?
As
long as possible! Depends entirely on how this campaign and our
ticket sales go. Initially we will be putting tickets on sale for the
first three months.
How
do I decide when my ticket is for?
As soon as you make a ticket pledge you will receive a confirmation of your ticket from IndieGoGo, guaranteeing you entry to the Maze. In the months leading up to opening night we will contact all backers who are being rewarded with a ticket and allow them to choose a date
which suits them.
Why
no Ocean Zone?
We're
old school! Plus all that water in a venue… health and safety would
not be happy.
What
is the story with health and safety?
The
safety of our audience members is a primary concern for us. We will
be working with health and safety experts and the local council to
ensure that the event complies with all regulations.
What
happens if you don't reach your target?
We
have been approached by a number of private investors, and can raise
the funds that way, if we don't reach our target. But of course, we
would prefer that the fans be the ones to bring back The Crystal
Maze.
Who's
going to be the host?
We
will be hiring some of the finest interactive theatre actors in the
UK to act as maze masters to guide audiences through. Though, we are
not averse to the occasional celebrity guest appearance!
Will
you bring it back as a TV show too?
Our
aim is to create a live immersive experience, not a TV show.
Awwwww
come on!
We'll have to see :)
Can I film footage, use a GoPro or get a recording of my time in the maze?
Sadly not, as this is also a rights issue, but watch this space.
