CAMPAIGN UPDATE FEBRUARY 2019
Introduction
Hello. I’m Christine Cowin and I'm the producer. Simon Emmett is directing and Sam Ford is our legendary DoP and along with a number of other talented people we’re independently producing a documentary about The Darkness, what happened after they imploded in 2006 and most importantly their unique comeback story. It's going to be a huge treat for fans, music and documentary lovers, revealing the bands members in a way you've never seen them before - and especially Justin. But it will also be funny, philosophical, personal, insightful, sad and massively entertaining.
PROJECT UPDATE FEBRUARY 2019
Simon and Sam started making this film in January 2015, and I (Christine) joined them as their producer in 2016. Since then we've also worked with other people such as Martin Roach (DoP) Elena Sanchez and Matt Cronin (editing) and most recently Morgan De Laporte who is our newest editor and who we hope will see us through to the finish line. We've all been trying to fit this into our day jobs, which means that certainly Simon and me have been working on this project unpaid so far and hence one of the reasons it's taking a while to finish.
By the end of 2018 we decided we had pretty much filmed most of what we needed (about 500 hours worth!) - although there will probably be some pick up shoots to do later - and that editing was the biggest job. This process is now ongoing. In the meantime, we have also just signed a deal to work with 2 Executive Producers - Dan Shepherd and Hank Starrs - who will work with us to try and raise the money to finish the film from their contacts.
Look out for some more video clips in the coming weeks and months as we share some of the brilliant bits of footage we've been getting.
We are all very much hoping that we can finish the film by the end of 2019. That's the goal!
Who Are We?
Simon is one of the best and most in demand portrait photographers and film makers in the world. He has photographed and filmed many of the world’s leading musicians and actors: Jay-Z, Rihanna, Matt Damon, Cara Delevigne, Cameron Diaz, Helen Mirren, Michael Caine, Adele, (we could go on) for GQ, Vogue, Esquire (the list is similarly long) and he’s created film projects with the likes of Ben Stiller, Idris Elba, Mark Ronson and Kylie.
I'm a producer, formerly head of content at Blink TV (a production and distribution company specialising in music) and have exec produced a number of Blink TV productions, a documentary about Blur (BLUR: NEW WORLD TOWERS) most recently I just finished producing BUENA VISTA SOCIAL CLUB: ADIOS which is now on general release around the world.
The more money we raise, the more time we can spend on it, the better it will be and the more people will see it. Simple!
