Who are we?
Hi! We're Slow Motion Commotion, a three-piece folk-punk band based out of Kansas City, Missouri. You may know us from our first album, Nice Things Don't Happen to A**holes Like Us, or maybe you don't! That's cool. It's nice to meet you! You should probably click that link though, take a listen to a few songs, it's cool, we'll wait for you. You back? Alright, awesome. Here we go:
We have just finished recording, mixing, and mastering our new album, entitled The Day's Not Over Until You Fall Asleep. It's a fifteen-track introspection on the battle between optimism and giving in, the impermanence of all things, and selling your soul to the devil at a dive bar. We've grown a lot since our first album, and in addition to the raucous guitar and banjo duo you've come to know and love, we've added drums, piano, violin, and the incredible Taylor Gwin on stand-up bass. From somber to silly, heart-wrenching to butt-kickin', this album is a wild ride from start to finish, and we cannot wait to share it with everyone. But before we can, we need your help.
"How do you need help?", you say?
Well we're glad you asked. As stated above, we've already taken care of the recording, mixing and mastering - however, we need your contributions to bring it all into the real world! Your contribution will be going towards the following:
CD's!!
Physical copies of
The Day's Not Over Until You Fall Asleep. Album artwork by
Louise McLaughlin.
Stickers!!
A new sticker! Put it on your guitar case, laptop, cat, whatever!
Beer Koozies!!
Our jams may be hot, but this Slow Motion Commotion koozie will keep your beverages nice and frosty!
Patches!!
Boom! You asked for 'em, and here they are. We're getting patches of our classic logo, so you can rep us on your sweet battle jackets or whatever else you apply patches to.
T-Shirts!!
Let everyone know that we are all equally pissed with this schnazzy new shirt!
Tour!!
Come November, we're hitting the road for the first time! We'll be stopping in Chicago (IL), Louisville (KY), Murfreesboro (TN), and possibly more, and considering the luck that all three of us have with automobiles, and emergency fund to make sure we get home alive is a necessity.
Distribution and Publishing Administration!!
Admittedly, this isn't particularly exciting for you, but your contributions are gonna help us get our music out to as many people as possible. And that's pretty awesome.
Risks & Challenges
This is our first attempt at crowdfunding, but we have done our best to anticipate any issues that may come our way. We have factored in shipping costs, and we have all the vendors for our merchandise lined up and ready to go so we can get your rewards out as soon as possible.
In the event we do not hit our goal, we will still be redeeming all rewards, we will just cut back on the quantity we order.
Other Ways You Can Help
Even if you can't contribute, you can still help us out! Here's a few ways how:
