A message from Writer / Director MICHAEL PICKLE:

Hey fellow horror fans! I'm the writer / director of The Dead Place starring Idris Veliu (Power), David Howard Thornton (Art the Clown from Terrifier), Bill Oberst Jr. (Papa Corn from Circus of the Dead), Lexi Graves (Sawyer Massacre), & Beatrice Boepple (A Nightmare on Elm St. 5) and I cannot wait to bring my nightmarish vision 15 years in the making to life. We are almost there! We completed most of Principal Photography in April and are now in the Post Production phase. Our final shooting day was delayed by the strike and is scheduled early January 2024. We will complete & release the film soon after that, and it will be well worth the wait. 

Along the way, a prominent composer of some classic horror films that I love became interested in scoring the film. I think The Dead Place deserves this composer as well as a professional sound mix, so we decided to keep the page open and offer things T-SHIRTS, POSTERS, MOVIE STILLS, STICKERS, and some last minute CREDITS like "SPECIAL THANKS" or even an "ASSOCIATE PRODCUER" credit to help raise money for this final stretch. 

Every cast member brought their "A" game and every crew member made sure the image looked amazing on every take. When I saw the footage, I knew we couldn't sell this movie short. From the explosive stunts by Stunt Coordinator Tony Snegoff, to the one-of-a-kind Spirit Board prop from Propmaster Tasha Lee Moth to the gut wrenching practical makeup FX of Robert Bravo, this production was blessed and deserves a proper polish before releasing it to the world.

This is why we're relying on the fans to get us to the finish line and you get a piece of the movie in return. We're working hard to deliver a game changer and this is just the beginning. We want the fans to have full ownership of this film and the other 2 films that will complete trilogy.  Much like our production; every penny of our campaign will go toward crucial things like COLOR CORRECTION, SOUND DESIGN, SCORE, MUSIC, & MARKETING. I am humbled by the love and support that has surrounded The Dead Place from the beginning and I ask that we rally ONE MORE TIME. Let's make horror history together! 

You can't run from what's already inside you.

The Dead Place is the tragic story of Isaac Stecker, a young man burdened with the gift of seeing beings that remain hidden from most eyes. Some of the specters that plague Isaac are of an insidious and menacing nature. As a result, Isaac is alienated from his family and is an outcast amongst his peers, most of whom believe that he suffers from psychotic delusions.

Isaac's peculiar nature and despondent demeanor earns the scorn of the school bullies, whose taunts grow progressively violent.

He only has one friend, Katharine, a fellow outcast who holds a fascination for the supernatural.

As the story progresses, the evil that haunts Isaac escalates from the spectral to the physical and invades his life in ways that have tragic consequences for everyone around him. Isaac is in a fight for his sanity and his soul as the demons attempt to push him to release his darker impulses on those who have bullied, taunted, and mocked him. If Isaac fails to overcome these forces, he risks unleashing a bloodbath and becoming a tool for the very evil he desperately fights against.

THE DEAD PLACE takes inspiration from films such as; In the Mouth of Madness (1994), Santa Sangre (1989), The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974), Session 9 (2001), The Evil Dead (1981), Sixth Sense (1999), The Children (2008), Ginger Snaps (2000), Pontypool (2008), 1408 (2007), Plague Town (2008), The Conjuring 2 (2016), Frontier(s) (2007), Murder Party (2007), Death Sentence (2007), Sinister (2012), Hereditary (2018), The Dark and the Wicked (2020).

I dreamed about The Dead Place for 15 years and I never imagined it would turn out even better than I envisioned. Every take was like a filmmaker's dream on set and I have you all to thank for that. Not only did you provide the budget and support I needed to get it done, you stood by me and made me feel like I could do it. Now that we are nearing the finish line; the fanbase grows with each glimpse of the finished product. We had a successful premiere of the TEASER TRAILER at the ROCKY MOUNTAIN NIGHTMARES Horror Convention in Denver, Colorado in May. The trailer showed twice to a packed room and fans went nuts. They gathered around our table afterwards to get POSTERS & MOVIE STILLS signed. The cast, crew, and fans that  have surrounded this project has made it truly special and we have formed our own little family. There was even some DEAD PLACE SHOES made, phenomenal ARTWORK, and someone even got a The Dead Place TATTOO! 

The best news is that The Dead Place is part one of a TRILOGY that is already written, so our little family is just going to get bigger. Each installment will increase in scope and explore a whole new set of themes until the gory supernatural mayhem that ensues in part 3.  Won't you come along for the ride?
