In-Depth Film Information
When a young man’s family is on the verge of being torn apart, he makes one last plea for their freedom.
This film tackles the controversial topic of immigration. The story goes through how one family deals with the risk of losing a parent due to being detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). This story is not only important to tell, but is important to visually portray how impactful it is to many people living in the United States.
Personally, this film is important and meaningful to me because I am surrounded by people I love and care for who also are dealing with issues related to immigration. I want to make it my duty to speak up for people who have been silenced, and there is no better way to do that than through the power of filmmaking; something I am very passionate about. I want to take advantage of the opportunity that I have to make a short film as my senior capstone to let everyone know - including you - what kind of filmmaker I express myself as.
Although this film can be noted as "political" or leaning toward "a side," I want both those who agree or disagree about DACA, DREAMers, and immigration reforms to give me a chance and help me make this film, to prove to you that I can make you care about a topic that may not affect you. With your help, I can give you a reason to care. I believe no matter what political values you hold, you can be open-minded about helping me bring this film to life, so you can see why I think you should care.
Filming will start in the Middle weeks of June of 2018. It is currently planned to be a four-day shoot but can be expanded or shortened depending on the money raised, and the locations we secure.
If you are wondering how you can help and how you can benefit from helping, keep on reading!
Budget
Our current budget for this film is an estimated $6,500. The above chart shows a breakdown of what exactly the money will be used for. Most of the money will go towards renting equipment needed to film. This shoot will be separated into four different days, so in order to rent for four days, equipment will be costly.
Aside from equipment, I would like to pay at least $200 for the four main actors I have, since they will be working with me for months to make sure they perfect their roles. The last $200 will go towards stipends for specific crew members who will come down to Arizona to help out with the film.
The rest of the money needed is broken down into different categories such as production design, catering, travel, etc.
If the full amount is not able to be reached by the deadline, most of the funding will be spend on equipment and production design.

Let's keep this real, filmmaking is hard work. But I am, and have always been, a hard worker. I have dedicated much of my time getting everything together for my pre-production work, and I will put in 10 times more of the amount of dedication and hard work as we move forward and begin actual production.
I have grown so much since I first started film school, and I can guarantee I have the ability and the creativity to bring this film to life with a great reputation.
