Our Story
The DreamAway is a short film. The plot takes place in a Greek country town over Christmas 2001, when Nikos and his two teenage friends face an unexpected dilemma. A series of funny adventures and a play of reality and dreams lead our hero to discover his passion for cinema.
This is a semi biographical film by young director Giorgos Bougioukos, who has studied film directing in Athens and has so far directed two short films, Fever and White Deal. Fever has been awarded the student film award at the International Drama Short Film Festival in Greece.
Our plan is to shoot the film in late April 2012, in the Peloponissos town of Tripoli, Greece. This is one of the reasons we start this communication with you, as time passes quickly and we need to raise as much funds in as short a time as possible.

What we need and what you get
Up to now, in spite of the difficulties we had come across, we had managed to work for the art that we so love by making personal sacrifice. Yet the current global financial conditions (especially the prolonged financial crisis we experience in Greece) force us to seek your assistance.
Making a movie is both costly and time consuming, so apart from the months of our engagement in the project, financial support is also required. Part of the funds that will be raised will be used in acquiring the filming equipment, the production design and the associatesâ fees.
Given that filming will take place on location away from Athens, a part of the funds will be spent on housing, food & transport expenses. Post-prÎżduction (developing the negative/film, scanning 16 mm film, editing etc) which is the final stage for the completion of the film is also quite costly.
By contributing to this campaign, you are helping a young filmmaker accomplish his goals of making his 3rd short film and continuing to work with his first full feature filmâŠ
In addition, you are supporting a Greek in the arts who wants to tell stories take place in Greece, and employ Greek film talent during this time of financial crisis in Greece. Finally, by helping a young filmmaker who loves what he does, who works and lives in Greece, a country which is under huge recession, you will participate in his dream to narrate stories about his country
