Dear parents, family, friends, and sponsors,

This has been an especially difficult year for our young people given the recent pandemic. Missed school events, sports, proms, and other activities that make growing up an enriching experience have practically been on hold for the last year. So challenging, I hear many heart-breaking stories from the young people we work with every day. They and their families seem so grateful and appreciative to be involved in our Summer Arts Performing Arts Program. Along with our partner, "America's Job Centers of California (AJCC)" we currently employ 74 youth workers ages 14-24 who are gaining work readiness skills and experience as they assist in facilitating these important performing arts (musical theater) and technology (filmed in Virtual Reality) projects. Additionally, we are facilitating over 244 learners (2nd to 8th grade) in performing arts education.

Please help us create some positive memories as these participants work their way back to “normal” while engaging in this life-changing summer arts experience. Help us raise funding to cover the show playbill, sets, props, lighting, sound, costumes and make-up (due to covid safety protocol, learners are not permitted to share make-up, some props, or costume items).

Short Summary

This summer arts program will address the need to provide youth with general career/job training. This collaborative program promotes social and emotional growth and is project-based learning culminating in a festival of public performances. This program utilizes the performing arts as a motivational tool; young people will gain work readiness skills, career planning, and higher education preparation. We will create an experience, leading students into the world of VR and expose them to the world of theater through VR.

What We Need & What You Get

We need to rise about $10,000 to fund the Virtual Reality Filming of this production. Donars will recieve free tickets to the performance as well as recieve credit in our playbill.

The Impact

We will create an experience, leading students into the world of VR and expose them to the world of theater through VR. This training will cover a wide range of Virtual Environments to give students some exposure to the future of this medium and its relationship to theater. By the end of this training participants will:

• Have a broad understanding of VR (Virtual Reality) and AR (Augmented Reality.
• A deeper understanding of the different types of Virtual Environments.
• Students will experience some practical applications for VR/AR and carry on a conversation about the medium.
• Explore the variety of ways in which VR is affecting theater and the entertainment industry as a whole.
• Introduction to Animation
• Work on producing a VR/AR experience for distribution.
