Here it is: our third noseclip -The FAKIR!
Made with our almost unbreakable TRITAN plastic, it allows you to wear you favorite mask while equalizing without using your hands.
As I was not convinced by the few « hands-free noseclip for masks » alternatives available on today’s market, I designed a noseclip that
- will properly stick to the correct area of your mask
- won’t move during your entire session
-
works with almost any diving mask on the market.
Whatever your discipline, freediving or spearfishing, using the hands-free Fakir noseclip will allow you to simply relax more and/or to leave your hands free to operate your equipment.
How does it works?
I received many questions lately along the lines of: "how can we equalize both ears and mask at the same time?". It’s pretty straightforward. You simply need to find the right pressure to close your noseclip: slightly less pressure than when using your noseclip the regular way (close it around 90% instead of 100%).
You can easily test this dry, first do the usual ear equalization: pinch your nose strongly with your fingers, equalize and feel the overpressure in your ears.
Now repeat the same thing, but while pinching your nose a little less strongly, equalize and find the good air pressure where your ears "open" and where at the same time a small stream of air comes out of your nostrils. There you are...! Easy, right?
This concept of noseclip to use with a mask was first launched by a well known diving company a few years ago, but with a different technical design. That product has not been a great success in the freediving world due to some unreliability, because that model tended to slip off the nose.
It is to counteract this sliding phenomenon and ensure that the noseclip will stay positioned in the optimal zone that we have developed our two innovations: the micro-teeth and an adjustable elastic band.
Firstly, each pad area has a few dozen micro-teeth (1.5mm-high) which make the noseclip grip properly on the silicone nose area of the mask (without damaging it in the long term due to its specific shape).

The second main issue to solve was how to prevent the entire silicone nose area of the mask from slipping on the nose when the noseclip is on. During my research, I discovered that a simple black elastic strap, easy to adjust with our quick-adjustment part, does the job perfectly. Simple and reliable. It fits perfectly on almost all diving masks, in a discreet and ergonomic way. Once installed, you can leave the noseclip on your mask or remove it in a matter of seconds.

How to use it
- First place the elastic strap around the mask
- Put your mask on, then place the noseclip on the nose area of your mask
- Close the noseclip over your mask, tight enough to allow equalization of the ears
- In order to equalize the mask, simply equalize slightly stronger than usual
- Adjust the tightening of the noseclip to your liking, to allow both ears and mask equalization

FAQ*
Will this noseclip fit my nose/mask perfectly? Unfortunately, there is no 100% clear answer to this question, as every nose is so different (shape, cartilage, flesh)... But after our guinea-pig friends tested it on a dozen different freediving masks, it seems to work very well with most noses.
How to know if I am able to equalize at same time ears and mask? Just try to pinch your nose and to vary the pressure you put on it. There should be a sweet-spot where you feel you ears equalizing but some air is still able to escape trough your nose.
Can I wear it like a normal noseclip? No, the micro-teeth on the pad area will be too uncomfortable if placed directly onto your skin. You need to have the silicone of the mask in between so as not to feel these micro-teeth.
What is it made of and which colors are available? The structure is made of TRITAN, a strong thermoplastic that we have already been using for many years for our classic transparent noseclips. Only transparent colors are available : blue, clear, dark grey and red.

If the elastic strap gets old, can I change it myself? This elastic strap is made in France (STN-tressage) with grade-A raw components so it should last many years. If one day you want to replace the strap, it’s super easy, any 3mm elastic band from the market will do the job. You can then fix it with a basic knot on the noseclip itself.
When is the delivery planned? As the mould is already ready we will send the noseclips straight away at the end of the crowfunding in January 2022!
