A Quick Content-Warning On This One: The Fiend of Turlin’s Well is a psychological horror adventure in a swords & sorcery setting. It contains numerous gory descriptions and situations that go beyond the ordinary style of swords & sorcery fiction and are more what one would expect in horror fiction. There is a dark element in most sword & sorcery fiction, which we embrace as a part of that literary genre, but The Fiend of Turlin’s Well unquestionably crosses over from the swords & sorcery approach of “dark-by-implication” into the horror genre of “look-into-the-dark.” Many of our fans have asked for adventures like this one, but by the same token we don’t want to surprise or ambush fans who expect a pure swords & sorcery genre adventure. If you’re interested so far, then by all means, please read on …
The Basics
The Fiend of Turlin’s Well seems like an ordinary city adventure at the beginning, set in the Turlin’s Well District of the City of Bard’s Gate, but gets darker and stranger as events move on. An unknown troublemaker is progressing from vandalism to kidnapping to murder, and the district’s civil order starts to come unraveled as the city watch remains helpless to stop the very visible crimes. The adventure is for introductory-level characters (level 1-2), but the players should be experienced; the courses of action aren't obvious enough for beginning players.
Spoiler Alert: For the GM Only
Torad Yarog, the Fiend, is not only a doppelganger with multiple personalities, he is also the captain of an inter-dimensional ship and a favored cultist of the Demon-Princess Teratashia, Mistress of the Gaps between realities. Hunting him down leads the characters to an old manor house in the city filled with gruesome evidence of the Fiend’s crimes, and clues that allow them to pursue the truth onward to the Death-Ship of the Roach Princess (soon to be released via Indiegogo).

About Pathfinder
We are not publishing a full Pathfinder version of The Fiend of Turlin's Well. However, we have given permission for Michael Russell's patreon to prepare a set of conversion notes for the adventure after the Indiegogo. If you plan on running the adventure for Pathfinder using these notes, you will need a copy of the adventure itself (in either version) to refer to.
Death-Ship of the Roach Princess
The Fiend of Turlin's Well has a companion adventure by Matt Finch that can be used as either the prequel or sequel. There are two interrelated things happening, and the order in which the characters encounter them isn't vital. If you would like to sign up to receive a notification when we launch the Indiegogo for Death-Ship of the Roach Princess, click here.
The Project
Frog God Games projects on Indiegogo are simple, focused, and short.
- Short in duration (2-3 weeks)
- Fast delivery of PDF once funding is completed
- Limited to a single title
- Have options priced between $5-$30
- Stretch goals and project bonuses (if any) affect the principle reward only (usually both the PDF and the softcover).
- Are the only guaranteed method to get the premium* print copy (NOTE: the softcover versions in this printing will not be sold on our website: see FAQ for explanation).
- Have a simple fulfillment process that does not use Backerkit
*Premium means heavyweight glossy interior pages enhancing the art and color elements. The thick, glossy cardstock brings out the vibrant color of the cover illustration. These are the nicest softcover books we have ever sold and we only print a title this way once.
Any reprint would use print on demand service that, although nice, do not approach the quality of our INDIEGOGO funded books.
Why the Tiny Print Run?
Since 2012 our crowdfunding approach has been extravagant in every way. Ambitious with massive page counts, plus numerous add-on options and stretch goals. All supporting a primary title itself as many as 990 pages.
This has resulted in Kickstarter's with memorable pledge rewards that include top-quality hardcover books with sometimes dozens of stretch goal bonuses and add-on extras. These are awesome AND they are expensive to buy for customers like you because they are very expensive to make for publishers like us.
Why not use Kickstarter?
We will still be using Kickstarter, frequently, for our large-scale projects, but we hear the request for less expensive options for our products all the time, especially smaller, faster-paced adventures that can be completed in 2-3 sessions.
Product enhancements tied to project success
During the funding period for The Fiend of Turlin's Well and after the funding goal is met we will improve the delivered product based on additional sales. There are no special tiered collectors editions or add-on purchase extras. Thus, as total project funding increases, the better the final product will be for everybody.
Examples of improvements made to earlier products:
- Additional commissions for interior color art specific to the adventure.
- The previous Indiegogo project added 2 interior art pieces and 3 extra creature illustrations for its appendix.
- Downloadable Options designed for popular virtual table-top software (The rewards for both How Orcus Stole Christmas! and In Vino Gigantus included the new creature/NPC tokens and player maps).
- High-resolution files of illustrations to share with players at the table.

Overseas Shipping
For the last several months, as those of you who follow us on Discord know, we have been grappling with the issue of high costs on shipping to locations outside the USA. We have decided that the most cost-effective way for our overseas customers to get books is by printing the books in print-on-demand format. This does not affect the USA, where we will continue ordinary printing and shipping.
The print-on-demand books international customers will be receiving are high quality, but please be aware that they are different from the premium-quality books we are advertising for sale in the USA.
We have tremendous love and respect for our international customers, and this is the most workable way we have been able to find to keep you supplied with books with reliable delivery times at a reasonable price.
