Short Summary
Update: We may have set our goal a little high, but even if we don't get to $20k, this book will be funded and distributed!
My name is Tricia and last year I created Huey's Books LLC as a publishing company to create books about military aviation. I've recently written a second children's book about Army aviation and aerial firefighting helicopters that I'm really excited to share!
The Fire Truck That Could Fly is a fictional book about an Army Chinook helicopter on a firefighting mission in the mountains. This book was designed to introduce children to aerial firefighting, showing a common mission conducted stateside. I'm working with the very talented Eric Castleman to illustrate and turn my ideas into reality.
April is the Month of the Military Child. Partnering with The Brotallion Blue Skies Foundation, 25% of all funds raised from this campaign will be donated to the foundation, specifically their Blue Skies Scholarship Program.
The Brotallion Blue Skies Foundation
The mission of the Brotallion Blue Skies Foundation is to provide post-mishap support for the Army aviation community and their families. In addition to providing financial support to the next of kin, they ensure that the fallen aircrew members’ lives are honored, they are kept present in our hearts and serve as a reminder that what we do serves a higher cause.
During this campaign, 25% of funds raised will go specifically to The Brotallion Blue Skies Foundation Scholarship Program supporting Blue Skies' Gold Star Kids.
Currently there are 12 children in line for college funds. The program will work on an age hierarchy with the focus being placed on the child closest to high school graduation.
What We Need & What You Get
We've started this campaign to help garner interest in the book, sell some advanced copies, and raise money for The Brotallion Blue Skies Foundation. Huey's Books is looking to raise $20,000, that's $5,000 that will go toward scholarships if we meet our goal!
If you are interested in helping out with this campaign, there are some very exciting perks! Check out the various perks for sale, including a limited edition print from the book signed by illustrator Eric Castleman.

This campaign coincides with the Month of the Military Child in April. There are more than 1.6 million military children who face unique challenges and experiences as a result of their parents' service. The Fire Truck That Could Fly children’s book is dedicated to all the military children who serve in their own way along with their family.
