If you live in Greece, you know for sure Muffins 'n' more!
If you dont', then check our new project and learn how to feed a school kid with a jar!
The Goal
My goal is to start a food business, producing food & desserts, based on the Greek cuisine, using organic raw materials from local producers, where this is possible. Besides, the store will operate as a cooking and pastry seminar center, where everyone can attend and learn how to make delicious courses and desserts at home.
For this purpose, I will co - operate with unemployed cooks, especially women, who have the experience and the ability to give cooking classes, starting from Greek cuisine. It is well known that there are health benefits of the Mediterranean diet that helps improve several risk factors linked to diabetes, obesity and heart disease, and also reduce mortality from causes as cardiovascular disease and cancer.
People, also, will have the opportunity to come and prepare or preserve food for commercial purposes (like selling them in markets and bazaars), or preserve vegetable and fruits, make jams and sweets for personal use. Of course having our team support, that will give its priceless advice and experience about cooking, packaging, labeling and pricing products.
Besides all above, we will offer free meals in a jar to school kids all over Greece and especially in Athens that are really starving. In many schools today, it is the parents' associations who come together, gather food and discreetly arrange to allocate it to those families of the school who are suffering. In co-operation with the teachers, they know which children in the school are hungry and in need of help. Again, they try to do it as discreetly as possible. Many families, suddenly left without work, are in shock and there is nowhere to turn. Social services are collapsing. They are not professional beggars. They are ordinary people like you and me, suddenly left with nothing.
Being really sensitive about kids I decided that after starting the business I will have the ability to prepare and offer food in a jar to these kids. Our goal is to visit 300 schools, offer free meals to hungry children and let them know about the benefits storing food in a jar instead of plastic containers. The visiting program will be announced through all our social media and this campaign page.
What we need
Even though the store is family owned, there are hundreds of things that are needed to transform this home - based business into a business firm and more accessible to everyone. The cost is extremely high in order to restructure the store, buy all equipment needed (this is a great expense!), furnitures, pans and pots, fridges, ovens, hire people etc. I want to make it once and buy the best that I can. This is a great opportunity for me to make a new beginning, that’s why I am asking for your help.
The amount of $80,000 is high, but I believe that you can contribute to this idea, taking advantage of the deals offered.
Please note that you can redeem your perk as long as it is available. As far as the cooking and pastry classes, I will contact you to let you know how to book your place.

About me
I am Foteini Mangana, leaving in Athens, Greece. I am an economist, holding an MBA degree too, having a 17 -year working experience in financial sector and business consulting till the end of 2009, when economic crisis started in Greece.
In 2010, I was “overqualified” for every job that I was being interviewed, so I decided to make a 180-degree-change in my career. I started buying and reading books about muffins and desserts, make more and more in my kitchen, taste different recipes and win the most encouraging comments from everyone. I love muffins, sweet and savory, as they are easy to make, fresh any time and there is a huge variety of recipes that you can enjoy!
In November 2010, I started a home based business (Muffins ‘n’ more), making muffins, cookies, cakes, liquors and several other desserts. Having friends in US and Europe, I was so inspired from them, who taught me how to appreciate a warm, fresh muffin for breakfast and not only! I was also really excited with the idea of food in a jar, something that isn't so well known in Greece, so several mixes in jars, cake in a jar and more like these have a place in my menu.
