Hello!
My name is Logan McKennah Brown and I am a filmmaker residing in Fairfax, Virginia at George Mason University. I am currently in pre-production of my senior thesis film, The Gay Club.
The Gay Club is a narrative that tells the true story of a young lesbian named Hailey, who attempts to create a Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) club during her time in high school. Despite the backlash she knew she would receive due to religious, political, and cultural pressures, Hailey was determined to create a connection with other LGBTQ youth and allies. This biopic demonstrates how Hailey and her friends uplift their small town despite a number of struggles.
By contributing to this campaign, you'll assist in raising awareness of how LGBTQ youth experience life in the rural south of the United States.

Why is this film important?
Many don't realize this issue continues to exist everyday. This is a true story that takes place in rural Georgia within my hometown and high school. Between Hailey and my own first-hand experiences, we'd like the opportunity to highlight what LGBTQ youth in rural areas are experiencing. Many live in communities where LGBTQ resources are extremely limited on an economic and geographic level. Religious affiliations within these areas can also cause pressure for those who are simply wanting to be themselves.
Representation matters. This film is not about romance, death, or coming out. This is a story about community, connection, kindness, and bravery. It is not a story about personal acceptance. It's about uplifting community acceptance.
It has always been a major goal of mine to try and make my town's community more accepting. I want to open their minds to the fact that LGBTQ people are no different than themselves. With this film, I want to express the voices of LGBTQ youth that have dealt with or are currently dealing with these issues.
Why is this project valuable to those contributing and others around the world?
The Gay Club is not an easy story to tell. This experience gives you and LGBTQ youth the opportunity to be apart of something larger. You'll raise the voices of LGBTQ youth in rural communities that can’t speak up for themselves and who don’t have the proper resources. This is why it is even more important that supporters contribute to this project and it’s message of positivity and bravery.
If you have the power to raise the voices of others when they don’t have the resources to do it themselves, it is our responsibility to support those who can’t.

If we exceed our goal, we’d like to direct your funds towards paying them for their hard work and dedication.
