Hi,
My name is Kiana Nichols, President of Girl Talk Publishing. I remember
being a young girl with my mom in the book store and library. Being an avid
reader, I always came home with an arm full of books. I’d sit the books on my
bed and take notice of the fact that there were rarely any characters that
looked like me.
Sadly, not
much has changed through the years. Even today, less than 3% of all books
released annually features characters of color.
This is why I am proud to be
the President of Girl Talk Publishing. Girl Talk is the home of Jayla and the
books in the Written by Jayla series.
She Think She’s Soo Cute, an anti-bully book, is the first
book in the series. This book has a 6th grade readability. It's sure to
strike a chord with kids of all races and its’ lessons of empathy will
brush off on their rainbow of friends.
I would like
to thank you in advance for supporting Girl Talk’s 5,000 Campaign. It’s our effort
to equip 5,000 underprivileged children with books.
For an
average of $2 a book Girl Talk will put a smile on the face of a young reader
who receives their own copy of She Thinks
She’s All That. These books will be donated to select underserved school
districts and Boys and Girls Clubs across the country.
