Who We Are
Remington E Adler & Casy Stein
We are two friends who turned into sisters, and The Haunted Whimsy is our brainchild. Our bookstore and creative lounge is the culmination of our love for stories (of every kind), a desire to encourage creativity is all aspects of life, and the need to build a safe community space for the marginalized and overlooked. The Haunted Whimsy is queer owned, woman owned, and neurodivergent owned.
We have both worked in photography, theater, accounting, administration, management, and more. More importantly, we have a love of all things weird, creative, and inclusive.
What We Do
We sell new books across many genres, focusing on marginalized people groups (BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, Neurodivergent, etc.). In addition to books, we also sell art supplies, games, and other merchandise. We like to work with smaller publishing houses and vendors, bringing things to our customers they might not find in other places. We also run several book clubs, like hosting classes on a variety of topics (from mental health to tarot), are about to start offering art classes, and much more.
Our mission is, and always will be, to offer a safe, creative space for people. Whether it’s for the entertainment of a good book, a chance to learn something new, or just a place to meet like minded people, we want a whimsical safe community.
What We Need
When we first opened our bookstore inside the Lebanon Farmers Market, we planned on staying for more than a year. Since the Market was sold in December 2024, we have been forced to adjust our plans. Our mission is always to maintain a safe space for people to build community and be creative, and we no longer feel we can do that at the Market. So, it’s time to find a new home.
The money we’re raising will help us relocate to a new location and get us set up there. We plan on staying in Lebanon, to continue to be of service to the community we've started to build here.

The Impact
Lebanon, PA’s population is growing more diverse, and we need spaces that reflect that. We also firmly believe that stories and creativity are necessary components of strong communities and that strong communities are necessary for personal health and prosperity. In an increasingly hostile world, safe spaces for the marginalized are more important than ever. We've already starting building a strong and epic community around our little bookstore. Your help will allow us to expand that vision and keep it a safe space!
