The project team has a working demo, not the final product. Their ability to begin production may be affected by product development or financial challenges.
We've created a great looking, lightweight waterproof boot that is comfortable to wear from city sidewalks to mountain trails, and everywhere in between. We hope you'll agree and take advantage of this incredible introductory price of $109, and help us bring this great boot to production.

Ridgemont was founded in 2014 to challenge the traditional look of outdoor footwear. Ridgemont is all about form and function. Ridgemont is great quality, good looking footwear that performs when you're walking the dog or conquering the trail—but also feels comfortable enough to wear at work or out for dinner. We combine the best materials and construction techniques but with a modern aesthetic. Our mission is to move the outdoor footwear market forward to the 21st century.
We've always loved the style and durability of the original alpine hiking boots. What's better than a boot mostly made from of one big piece of beautiful full-grain leather? Talk about durable! It’s that simplicity and purposeful design that inspired us to create what we consider to be the perfect light hiking boot.
You're probably thinking, "If you like the old hikers so much, which are still around pretty much unchanged, why are you bothering to make your own?" Good question. Here's why:
While the originals are awesome in principle, we just find the proportions too clunky in practice. They make your feet look like boulders, and they're not much lighter, so we've slimmed the Heritage boot down for a thinner silhouette. We've made the upper from high quality full grain leather sourced from a gold rated ecologically responsible tannery, so it looks as good as it goes. We decided to put the Heritage boot on a half-cup outsole with an exposed EVA midsole to not only enhance comfort, but also to give the boot a more relaxed vibe around town.
A set of self-colored laces is included with every pair.
We didn't design these boots for off-road duty only. We want to wear them to work, school, dinner and on the trail. We want sneaker level comfort with boot level durability. We want it all, and we know you do too. That's why we've built the Heritage on a super comfortable EVA midsole for all day, everyday comfort.
We've also included our bespoke EVA Cush open cell foam insoles which, in addition to being super cushy yet supportive, are also anti-microbial, non-absorbant, and promote airflow.
We know that comfort isn't all about cushioning when it comes to the trail, so we've used our custom Variflex lasting board to add rigidity where it's needed, without disrupting natural foot flexion.
Finally and super importantly, we've also given the Heritage a fully waterproof lining from Hydroguard, because nothing ruins comfort like wet socks and feet.
What good is a great looking boot if you're afraid to wear it while doing the stuff you love to do? Not much good at all. That's why we've used only the best materials to build the Heritage boot.
The 2.5mm full-grain leather upper and waxed cotton canvas collar will take whatever you throw at them, and look good doing it.
The Heritage boot is built with heavy duty metal d-rings and speed hooks for secure lacing and a gusseted tongue to keep out dust and debris.
The outsole is made from real rubber and has our mildly lugged tread pattern so it provides excellent grip on loose and slippery surfaces without looking too aggressive.
That's the story of The Heritage. We hope you've enjoyed learning about the inspiration that lead to their design as well as the care, thought and functionality that's been built into them. Of course, we also hope that you've decided to back this campaign so that we can bring these beauties to life for you.
If you're still undecided we have one more piece of scientific data that will hopefully help you make your decision.
So there it is, a diagram clearly illustrating the fact that the only known example of a combination of style, comfort and durability to exist on this planet is The Heritage from Ridgemont (as far as we know). It's Science!
We all live in this unpredictable world and understand that anything can happen. Remember Eyjafjallajökull? That said, based on our experience of sending hundreds of styles into production, this is a realistic production timeline, beginning at the close of the campaign and spanning about 120 days until delivery to you.
Let's stay in touch! You can keep up to date with the progress of this campaign, as well as other awesome Ridgemont events and promotions.
Some people have asked us, "Ridgemont is a fully-functioning footwear brand with retailers and it's own online store, why are we releasing products on crowdfunding platforms?" For us, the answer is clear, and it comes down to a few key factors:
COMMUNITY
The IndieGoGo community is vibrant and full of people who are excited about backing new and exciting opportunities first, and they understand the value that's associated. You're tuned in to what's going on, and you communicate with creators as well as other backers to help the entire community learn and grow. As a brand, this kind of interaction with our customers is invaluable.
VALUE
The crowdfunding model allows us to pass our savings on to you in a very real way. We offer wholesale pricing to you in exchange for helping us pay for the initial development and production costs. All subsequent production runs of this product will be priced at an MSRP which is roughly double what you'll pay here.
RISK
Developing and producing new products the traditional way is risky because you don't truly know if it will resonate with your customers. If it doesn't, you've wasted a lot of time and money. Crowdfunding is the ultimate free market. If you like it, you back it. If enough people back it, we make it. If it doesn't get funded, we don't make it.
