THE HUSH is a supernatural noir that was created by a small but passionate team of artists and technicians. The 90 minute film defies conventions of genre, seamlessly blending aspects of mystery, horror, action and drama together - all while retaining a consistent, character-driven atmosphere of film noir.
WE COMPLETED our film 100% INDEPENDENTLY, and received some great reactions and reviews, but that is just the first part of our journey as filmmakers, for the rest we are asking for YOUR HELP -
OUR CAMPAIGN:
Our goal is to raise money in order to self-distribute our film to a global audience. Technology has allowed us to reach out and communicate directly with our audiences. This film is important to my team because we believe in it: we would like it to maintain it's voice and the best way to ensure that - is to do it ourselves.
The money we plan to raise ($4,500 USD) will go directly into paying digital distribution fees (to get onto various digital media platforms), pay for professional DVD/Blu-ray creation, provide a small advertising/marketing budget, and in the process be able to share our work (and some great gifts) with you and fans of artistically driven independent cinema.

SYNOPSIS:
"In Silence We Find The Answer."
After taking an innocent life, a vigilante hitman’s only chance for survival rests in the ghosts of a troubled young woman and a sadistic psychopath; Freddy “the Hush” Burnett must find his way through fear, violence and the mysterious forces that are now playing with his life.
ABOUT THE FILM:
THE HUSH was shot in Oakland CA for less than $8,000 USD, utilizing technology, pushing ingenuity and focusing on storytelling the entire time.
I started making films when I was a child, and have devoted the majority of my life to being a storytelling: blending elements of sight, sound and emotion into an experience. Over the years I just kept building the scale and scope of my productions - THE HUSH is years of crafting stories, assembling and organizing artists and just plain hard work.
The film has been featured in Videography Magazine, a BlackMagic Design case study, received an honorable mention, opened the Oakland International Film Festival '11, and received some positive feedback throughout the entire process.

WHAT PEOPLE HAVE SAID:
We have received some notable reactions from a range of critics and peer artists alike:
"The Hush is a great blend of tone, character and storytelling. It feels real, which is easier said than done when dealing with the supernatural. It's like a classic film noir, meets Tarantino, meets a horror movie."
- Jonas Rivera - Producer of the Academy Award winning film "Up" (2009)
"A haunting tale of redemption; the elegant simplicity in which it is told makes this complex story a real surprise that goes beyond black and white."
- Josefina Lopez - Screenwriter ("Real Women Have Curves"), Author and Film Producer
The Hush “is an absorbing ride through dark territory, with violence exploding around every corner and danger lurking in every shadow, underscored by a relentless mood of impending doom, making for a quietly enthralling experience.”
- Will Viharo - Pulp Writer and Film Critic
“The Hush is an ambitious feature film shot for less than a half days cost of work on a major studio film, and it looks like a million bucks. This film proves what can be done when the indie filmmaker is resourceful and focuses on the craft of cinema, without letting limitations take over.”
- Eric Escobar - Director, two-time Sundance award winning Filmmaker
“Vincent Cortez is right where he wants to be with his first feature: he knows that good films are not only visual but visceral. What Robert Rodriguez became to Austin, Vincent Cortez may one day be to Oakland.”
- Mark Christiansen - VFX Supervisor and Author
