The Ignis Quadrant - Novus Landing - Chapter #2 continues the shenanigans of Montana Bones, a rough-n-tumble space cowboy, and his wacky group of companions. They've got a few drinks in their bellies, the local garrison and a gang of criminals at their backs, and not much of a plan in front of 'em.
This is the second crowdfunding campaign for this serial story, and introduces the third chapter. The book is completely finished and ready to print, and folks who have read it have had great things to say. We're thrilled and excited to continue to bring this story to life with your help and support!

Some folks would describe this story as that of a man afraid to let go of the past as he deals with shame and regret, while unknowingly searching for a purpose. Others (including me) would just describe it as a not-so-serious jaunt around a familiar yet unique space setting, cut with halfway-decent humor and a big splash of action and adventure.
The Ignis Quadrant world and characters draw from a plethora of influencing sources - from science fiction classics like Star Wars® and Firefly, to spaghetti westerns of yesteryear, and even pulp staples like Back to the Future and Indiana Jones. You'll feel right at home in the Ignis Quadrant - comfortable and familiar - while also finding yourself exploring something entirely new and exciting!
Chapter #0 is a free prequel issue that you can read digitally RIGHT NOW if you wanna get a bit 'o the origin story, see more of the artwork, and see the writing style. Check it out and choose for yourself if you wanna read on! You can also learn a bit more in the original Chapter #0/#1 crowdfunding campaign page.

Chapter #2 is 24 full-color pages, 19 of which include the sequential story, plus two special chapter intro and outro splash pages. The art style features clean, heavy lines with vivid bold contrasting colors and an attention to detail.

[THE PHYSICAL BOOKS]
The physical book is printed on super-high quality 80# C-2-S Gloss paper (thicker and higher quality than standard comic "floppies"). The standard cover is printed on 80# gloss as well, and the limited Kickstarter-exclusive cover will be printed on 80# gloss foil paper. The limited cover is an amazing wraparound, super-detailed design from Italian illustrator Mirko Di Noya. The limited edition print copy will also be signed by the author (Evan Carothers) and shipped in a sealed plastic sleeve.
Every physical package will also include a custom sticker of Monty's custom RY-13 Rev Laser schematic, and hopefully more swag from stretch goals! We even have a custom stamp of the Rev Laser schematic for the shipping envelopes for that custom touch.

[DISCLAIMER]
This comic contains action-filled violence, foul language, adult themes, alcohol consumption, and some racy language at times. We slapped an 'M' for mature on the cover on purpose. If you're a young kid who stoled your parents credit card and are looking for comics on Kickstarter, don't buy this one (unless you're 100% sure you aren't gonna get caught)
[DELIVERY TIMELINE]
Chapter #2 is 100% complete and queued up at our printer. Printing will begin as soon as the KS ends (when we know exact numbers to order), with plans to have copies ready in < 1 month from the end date of the KS. Digital copies will get distributed to you right after the funding period as well. Obviously, it's a pandemic right now and there's wildcards, but that's our (optimistic!) timeline.
[SHIPPING]
Domestic shipping & handling is $3 per issue (which covers shipping, handling, and packaging). This cost will not change even as physical stretch goals are added to the project, as all items will be small enough to add in the mailer envelope with the book. For non USA locations, shipping is a standard $11. Unfortunately that is the cheapest shipping I can find, even with merchant discount USPS international rates, so for international backers digital pledges might be a better option. International backers will also be responsible for any duties/customs your country imposes - the customs form will declare the comic with a $3 USD value.
[FUNDING GOALS AND COSTS]
Most people don't know how much it really costs to produce a comic, and I wanted to be very transparent about the process, so you know how we priced our rewards and why we set the funding goals we did. In the case of The Ignis Quadrant, it costs $150/pg for the sequential art (which covers paying the artists for pencils, inks, colors, then lettering). Then you add in more expensive pages (like covers, supplemental art pages, intro pages, etc) and the cost of editing. Chapter #2 cost us around $3700 total to produce.. THEN you have to factor in printing costs (~$2.50/piece), shipping ($2.80/piece domestic via media mail + packaging & handling), marketing/advertising, taxes and Kickstarter fees. Any in our case, we offer the prequel issue for free, which we aren't even including in these calculations.
Any comic creator will tell you that you don't get into comics to make money, but rather for love of creating and seeing your stories come to life. It was very important to me to pay the artists up front for their amazing work, and take any risk for the project success onto myself. Our funding goal is barely a break-even point for the production and distribution costs of the comic, however I wanted to keep it affordable for backers, and am confident that you will enjoy our story and want to follow along for further issues as the story arc continues!

[EVAN CAROTHERS] - Writer, designer, and owner of EC3D Designs
I live in St Paul, MN and have been working in the gaming and world-building industry for many years, successfully creating and Kickstarting digital designs for characters, scenery and more to use in conjunction with your imagination (and 3D printers). I have been developing the world of the Ignis Quadrant through multiple kickstarters and am excited to be working with such a talented team of artists and creatives to bring these projects to life! I am a black belt in Brazillian Jiu Jitsu as well, and plan to draw upon my martial arts experience to make some awesome hand to hand fight sequences in the comic.
[JEZREEL ROJALES] - Artist
Jez lives with his wife and children in the Philippines, where he works his magic to bring stories to life in beautiful imagery. Jez previously worked on Liberty:Deception, a sci fi dystopian comic. He also works as a storyboard artist for TV and commercials, as well as traditional water colors and Indie animation films.
[MARIAM YASSER] - Colorist
Mariam is a skilled colorist residing in Cairo, Egypt. I met her on the awesome reddit community /r/ComicBookCollabs and was captivated by her bold, bright design aesthetics and attention to detail. Her stylistic coloring brings the world of the Ignis Quadrant to life and makes it feel fun and exciting while simultaneously dark and dangerous.
[JUSTIN "LETTERSQUIDS"] - Letters
Justin has been lettering comics and doing logo/graphic design for many years with an impressively long portfolio. He's another awesome creator I met via Reddit. I was drawn to the sharpness of clarity in his work, and the unique way he blends multiple styles together so seamlessly. His work in our book is outstanding, and makes for one hell of a smooth reading experience
[BOB SALLEY] - Editor
Bob has often been referred to as the hardest working guy in indie comics. Bob has written and created so many comics that you could spend a few months reading only his awesome work and never get sick of it (Broken Gargoyles, Salvagers, Shelter Division, Ogre & Ogres w/Source Point Press). He helped me turn The Ignis Quadrant from an "ok" project into something I am crazy proud of.
[OTHER AWESOME COLLABORATORS]
Kurt Michael Russel (standard cover colors), Mirko Di Noya (limited cover art), Claudia Cangini (chapter intro pages), Joshua Black (character design), and Jean Roux (supplemental art)
