Chef Nicola Blaque has been dreaming of opening a Jamaican Inspired restaurant for over a decade. The Jerk Shack an idea of first-generation Jamaican American, Army Veteran, and now Chef, saw Jamaican food in a different light. Her idea? Delicious Jamaican inspired dishes served to the community. Chef Nicola is launching a new food concept in San Antonio, The Jerk Shack, with dreams of one day expanding the concept across Texas then nation wide.
Chef Nicola will bring the people of San Antonio a new artesian way of Jamaican Inspired cuisine, as well as telling a story based on cultural perspective and history.
They say the chase is better than the catch, so if you’re willing to chase the dream, then join us in building a community and launching San Antonio’s first Jerk Shack.
With your support, we'll be able to put the money towards the following:
Much-needed Woodburning Charboiler -- Chairs, Tables, Boilers, Burners, Trays, Outdoor renovation, etc.
Marketing Materials -- Signs, Merchandise, Physical & Digital Advertising
R&D -- New Flavors, New Dishes,
Raising $20,000 will allow Chef Nicola to finish small renovations on a historic building in San Antonio along with key kitchen equipment and outdoor lighting. Chef Nicola was very specific about how the Jerk Chicken is prepared and creating the atmosphere of the restaurant with a goal of bringing a similar Jerk Shack from her home in Mandeville, Jamaica keeping it authentic as possible.
When we exceed the goal, funds will be reinvested into The Jerk Shack's second location or a Food Truck. The Jerk Shack has big plans but this is only the beginning. We can't do it without you and looking forward to serving you fresh new Jamaican inspired cuisine.
THE PERKS
Chef Nicola and her marketing team made the perks something you can't say no to. Understanding everyone has a budget and not always able to give money like they would like she tired the perks so you can give where you most comfortable. Some LEVELS of perks are set up to INSTANTLY DOUBLE YOUR INVESTMENT at The Jerk Shack. Chef Nicola has give you the option to be the first to try her "Fried Jerk Wings and Mac" or possible the"Braised Oxtails with rice and peas" . If you want authentic dishes with a new Culinary flare be the first to bite into he "Ackee Saltfish egg rolls". If being the first to try the food doesn't excite you she has other perks from Jerk Bucks to spend at Jerk Shack and even 20% Lifetime customer discounts.
If the Jerk Shack misses its goal, the funds will be used and stretched as far as possible to make the best possible launch. It may cause longer wait times without key equipment in the kitchen and the Jerk Shack renovation may be postponed, and we will still continue with offered perks and soft opening party. Chef Nicola is confident her campaign will reach it's goal and excited to make her supporters proud.
Soft Opening (Founder Only) May 4th starting at 6pm
GRAND OPENING May 11th starting at 6pm
San Antonio has recently been recognized as a food capitol, however there is a lack of Jamaican food and the variety of restaurants aren't spread across the map. Chef Nicola is ready to break away from the norm and create her own path. With the lack of Caribbean options in San Antonio she understands there is a want/need/demand for The Jerk Shack. When Chef Nicola Debut the "Jerk Chicken and Pineapple waffle topped with Pineapple relish drizzled with habanero maple syrup and a option of avocado puree and crispy plantain chips" the room was in aww. Needless to say her leaks in the market has been a major success and she can't wait to go full throttle.
It'll be challenging to open a Jamaican restaurant in a city where 80% of the people have never tried Jamaican food. The flip side to that coin is once they like it there aren't many Jamaican options in the city. To climb over a few humps Chef Nicola understand exposure is the key and will won't leave no stones unturned in her marketing venture.
Some people just can't contribute, but that doesn't mean they can't help:
