Short Summary
My name is Felix Hiciano and I am the Producer of this film.
The Last Scene is a full length film under A SAG New Media Contract.
The film The Last Scene was born out of a play written by Richard Thomas Henle of the same title in 2013 and directed with by Felix Hiciano and performed at the Manhattan Repertory Theater, in October 2014. The production received with excellent reviews.
Richard wrote this play after learning about a friend who was going through a serious illness. When we individuals go through life on a day-to-day basis, we sometimes lose focus and lose sight of what is important. We lose contact with friends. We don't call or see them. With the rise of social media we think we know what's going on with our friends and families, but we forget that we hide behind the social media and don't talk about what we are really going through.
The Last Scene portrays the relationship of six friends. Finding one real friend is considered good fortune. This is a story of the six such friends: Matthew, Linda, Jonathan, Diana, Richard, and Nancy.
We strongly believe The Last Scene is an important film because everyone will be touched by either a specific character, couple, or subject matter. We, at one time or another, have had a relationship or situation that is touched upon in this film. Be ready to be affected by this film.
Creating a movie such as The Last Scene requires a collaboration of many Actors, Crew Members, and creative minds– and lack of funding for independent films such as this one can keep the magic and vision from being presented to the world. We have the luck of finding individuals and companies who were willing to donate their home and businesses for free. We are also partnering with George Washington High School-School of Media and Communication to mentor several students in this film and future projects. The producer, Felix Hiciano, is an alumnus of George Washington High School. We are giving back to the community. This was the only way to keep costs down and make independent films. By contributing, no matter how much or how little, you are working directly with me and my crew to provide art and entertainment that would otherwise not exist.
If a financial contribution is not possible... and I understand this completely... even sharing this campaign or commenting on my project can make contributors and talents aware of my cause. Thank you, really, from the bottom of my heart for anything you can do.
What We Need & What You Get
The $15,000 we hope to raise with this funding project will go, mostly to pay for the cast and crew that will bring this movie to life. The SAG New Media Contract is $100 per day. We have already produced one day of shooting. By the time the IndieGoGo campaign is finished, we will have shot for four days. The cast and crew, including the editor, are working on the honor system and in hopes of receiving full funding of this campaign. Everyone of the cast and crew are my friends and with whom I have a personal relationship. If we do not reach our goal, unfortunately, filming may come to a halt for a period of time until more funding is obtained by other measures. Any funding received will go directly to the cast and crew. But rest assured that this film will be made.
Other expected expenses include camera equipment, lights, and other technical purchases. We also provided food for the cast and crew and some travel expenses. We also intend to submit to film festivals once we have placed the film in a media platform.
The perks we offer are low cost, but still designed to give you a tangible piece of the project, while enabling us to use your funding for the purpose it is needed.
The poster is a reminder of the movie you brought to life!
Our Facebook "tags" will link you with the project in a way that tells your friends and network that you are doing more than "rooting for the good guys", you are making it happen in a real, tangible way.
The Impact
Oftentimes actors of color lose out on numerous film opportunities. We are proud to say that this is a multicultural production. We do plan to branch out into a larger entity where we can produce various projects using our student interns, our communities and various voices.
We are passionate, creative individuals who do this for the love of the arts. We all have either full-time jobs or several jobs. This challenge is resolved by filming on our collective days off. We estimate filming to take us probably three months. But our love for the arts and this film will keep us determined and help us persevere.
If you are unable to make a financial contribution, but would still like to help bring this project to life... please use the link to promote this fund drive on your social media. We need all the exposure we can get, and any attention you can generate will help push this movie into production!
Thank you for viewing our trailer and listening to our story.
With Love,
Felix Hiciano
