Short Summary
Hi my name is Oliver Coltress. I am an aspiring filmmaker with 2 great kids and an awesome wife who supports me in everything I do, even when it doesn't make me any money! I've been making short films and indie movies for several years mainly because I love to do this.
My latest project is The Lawton 7, it is a mockumentary about 2 grad students who began investigating the urban legend of The Girl by the Lake and stumble upon the mystery of 7 missing friends from a small town.
The reason we chose I to go through Indiegogo to raise funds for this film is since I don't live in an entertainment hotbed area of the country it is increasingly difficult to find film financing. With you and your friends support, my team of filmmakers will be able to make an ultra low budget horror film that can inspire a new generation of filmmakers much like Paranormal Activity or The Blair Witch.
What We Need & What You Get
We are looking to raise 16K for our feature. This is the bare minimum we think we need to complete the project. A portion of the money will go towards feeding the crew (if you can't pay some one you at least have to feed them!). Another portion of funds raised will go towards the necessary equipment that will be needed to complete the film things such as, renting lights, lenses, etc. We will also need money for less glamorous things such as lawyers, contracts etc. If we don't raise the 16K that we need we will use the money raised to begin the project and work on finding finishing funds for the project.
With your donation we plan to thank you in a variety of ways. We will have things such as cast and crew photos, movie credits,CO- EX Producer credits and a whole lot more!
The Impact
What this project will do for you and my team is allow us all to be a part of the film making process. Making a movie takes more then one person, and we know that WE can not do it alone. We need your help. Even if you donate $1 that is $1 more then we had before. Even if you share it with 1 friend or tell 1 friend that's one more friend then knew about it before.
If you are sitting thinking this is an impossible feat, it is not. We have all worked on short films, low budget features and even no dollar features before so we are well aware of the obstacles ahead of us. But we are also aware of the rewards and we hope you can experience that part with us as well.
Risks & Challenges
Like I said earlier there are several risks and obstacles a project like this will face.
Money is the biggest, we may raise 16K and realize it is still not enough and have to find more. OR we may not raise 16K and feel like there is no way this project could get done. Weather! Yes the weather could certainly delay us since we are shooting outside. Any delay goes right back to money. Equipment failure can be another problem that arises along with not enough people hearing about this project to support it. The great thing is that we do have a plan. It is call planning. Planning can be a huge savior on a small project such as this. We are doing our homework and trying to raise the funds we need to make this movie. Our weather issue is out of our control but with planning we know when the best time is to shoot the film and a back up plan for each day in case of weather emergencies. We also have a great plan for our equipment. Some equipment we already own and some of it we will rent. But all the equipment we have access to we can also rent at other locations in case of an emergency!
