Two years ago, a group of my amazing high school students at The Brooklyn Latin School launched our very first school literary magazine, Libellus. They elected editors, solicited work from their peers, and compiled a beautiful anthology of student art, poetry, and prose. As we head into our third year and third issue together, we need your help.
Our Fundraiser:
Our magazine costs roughly $1,500 to print. We want our issues to be affordable to the students we serve, so we sell them at a loss. This year, NYC public school budgets are tighter than ever and we are asking for your help in sustaining our publication.
In addition to publication costs, we are raising money to fund an exciting new project: a reading and writing workshop series for high school students. We plan to invite AND to pay two published writers per year to visit our school to give readings, visit classes, and lead writing exercises. Visiting writers will commit to a minimum of one class period and one after-school activity and will be paid an honorarium of $250 for this work.
Total Requested:
$1,500 for printing + $500 for reading series = $2,000
