Short Summary
Hi, my name is Abdoulah M-Jones and I'm the Producer on 'The Myth'. This film is an important story that highlights the demonisation of young Black women. The film will expose this reality but also start a conversation needed to be had about misogynoir, consent, and various other themes. This campaign aims to raise the funds needed to bring together a group of creatives to artistically bring this film to life.
What We Need & What You Get
All the money raised from this campaign goes towards making this film. 'The Myth is a drama/fantasy encapsulating Greek mythology - a modern retelling of Medusa. With this folkloric imagery, most of the money will go to art/set design, hair & make-up, costume and visual look of the film. The story has such a salient message but told in a very stylistic way, that I want to make sure that we have the right resources to paint this narrative.
There are many perks that are available only for backers with tiers! These tiers include social media exposure, a special mention in the end credits and much more. Could even be credited as an Executive Producer!
There is the possibility we won't reach the goal we aspire. Even if that's the case, we will still make this film with the best of our ability as I've got a passionate team behind me. With the money raised, I will use everything in my power to tell this story in the most effective way.
The Impact
Like I mentioned previously, the message behind this film will start conversations and open people's eyes to this reality that some Black women have endured. 'The Myth' aims to empower the survivors and we hope that message can be understood by our audience.
Risks & Challenges
For this production there is a chance we could have quite a few people on set for a specific scene. The more people there, the higher the risk in people’s safety and health. This can be from the narrative of the story being quite sensitive and maybe personal, to Covid-19 still being a threat to groups of people in one location. To tackle this, I have crewed up ADs and PAs that will be on set to look out for cast and crew's well-being. There will also be PPE provided to help prevent the spread of the virus.
