Hi deep freediving addicts!
After the success of our last crowfundings, we are happy to introduce the Octopus fluid goggles!
Fluid goggles are a great tool to bring safety, relaxation and enjoying seeing underwater, without having to worry about equalizing the goggles, and without any depth limit. Our model allows to see underwater and on the surface too.
Being able to see on the surface, and not only underwater, is a significant bonus... It makes the pre-dive preparation more relaxed, and the surface protocol much easier in competition.
Underwater, once you get used to it (it takes a few sessions, just like when you start to use a noseclip), being able to see perfectly makes you feel more serene, especially in case of problem such as your lanyard getting tangled. Finally, for your fun-dives, you'll be able to enjoy the beauty of the underwater world without having to worry about equalizing a mask.
The width of the googles can be tuned with the 4 different size nose bridge delivered with to fit your specific face ergonomic.
Producing the type of tailor-made goggle structure we have designed requires a large investment for the injection mold, but this is the only option to offer goggles with double vision (underwater and on the surface), of optimal quality, with a perfect positioning of the lenses, unparalleled comfort, a killer design and still super affordable.

The amazing Eric Fattah designed the very first models around 20 years ago. Back then, lenses were included too inside the goggles. This was semi-handicraft work, produced only in small series, and therefore with a fairly expensive price tag of around 200-300 USD.
For the past few years, the various models found on the market were made using regular swimming goggles, in which two holes were made to house the lenses. However, this meant you could no longer see anything on the surface, since the lenses could not be fitted in the inner space of standard swimming goggles: that space is too small and the lenses would be too close to the eyeballs. Moreover, piercing holes inside swimming goggles takes time: such fluid goggles are produced in small quantities and remain expensive.

So… How can we keep such an affordable price?
(compared to the fluid goggles already available on the market? )
3 main points:
- Instead of buying a pre-existing model of goggles and tampering with it so that it can host the lenses, we will be producing the goggle structure ourselves instead, using a super-strong polycarbonate. Once the big initial investment to produce the molds is done, then the production costs for this tailor-made goggle structure is fairly low, since we work directly with the producer.
- Regarding the top-quality lenses, in order to keep a competitive price, we ordered several thousand pieces from one of the best producers of lenses in the world. This enabled us to considerably lower the price per unit.
- Finally, we will be using a smart pin system, onto which lenses can be clipped. As they will remain inside the goggles, we do not need to handle the time-consuming and expensive process of piercing holes in the structure. Once the lenses are clipped into place, and unless you do a very specific maneuver, they are firmly fixed with no risk of losing them.
