Overview
The Prosper Valley School (TPVS) is joining the “maker” revolution! In collaboration with the Montshire Museum, we hope to design and build a portable cart stocked with tools, supplies and project ideas--the "STEAM Roller" (STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math). TPVS teachers will literally roll engineering right into their rooms where students, Grades K-6, can design, tinker and build, test prototypes and go back to the drawing board as needed.

The teachers at The Prosper Valley School in Pomfret, Vermont need your help to spark the imaginations of our young scientists, technology whizzes, engineers, artists and mathematicians. We would like to design and build a "STEAM Roller"--a large cart on wheels stocked with tools and materials for woodworking, electronics, photography, fiber arts and any sort of academically-related creative project.

TPVS is working collaboratively with the Montshire Museum on this mobile "makerspace" project. The Montshire Museum is one of seven national “hubs” for a Google grant-funded initiative focused on maker education. In Fall 2016, TPVS was selected as one of nine NH/VT schools to participate in the Google initiative. TPVS receives $1000 from Google toward building the infrastructure for an in-house “maker” program. Google also provides us with safety goggles, aprons and other equipment.

The focus of this campaign is to raise $2000 for the design, construction and outfitting of the STEAM Roller.  The funds will be directed toward the purchase of building materials for the cart itself, tools, supplies and educational resources for STEAM project ideas.  The TPVS teachers will proceed to develop projects that address the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) for each grade level.  Once the fundraising is complete, construction of the STEAM Roller will take place during the 2017-18 academic year with the assistance of students.
