We're back!
My team and I are more than ready to bring a successful conclusion to our campaign chapter. With the generosity of incredible people like Melanie Wise (from the Artemis Film Festival), Jennifer Waltzer, Writer/Producer Susan Cohen, James Russell, friends Jason and JoanClaire, TV Editor La-Aja Hernandez, Music Producer Jay Moore and former Lifetime Executive, Jenny Alonzo, we were able to secure our 2nd shooting location at TBoyles Tavern in Pasadena, Ca.
With eight feature screenplays and TV pilots and seven short films to my credit, I have a solid drive to succeed. I have more than an interest in filmmaking-it truly holds a long term lease in my heart; I have no doubt that writing/directing is where I belong. With more than 12 years progressive experience to my credit, this journey, sometimes painful, has taught me patience and endurance. No time is ever wasted and no effort is useless.
ABOUT THE R WORD
My latest passion project and 8th short film will be-The R Word . I am compelled to make "The R Word," because I want to send viewers down a personal rabbit hole of dark secrets, grief and misery. While it simmers with a quiet anger, The R Word exposes every raw nerve, as two profoundly different women spend one morning drinking whiskey and having a verbal sparring match about their mutual rapist. As it intriguingly toys with thriller conventions, the lead character, Grace, makes an aggressive move and kidnaps Robin, the wife of her rapist, in an attempt to understand why she refuses to report her own attack.
The R Word is an utterly compelling story that leads into some very unexpected directions. This short film will be uncomfortable, perhaps even disturbing as these women struggle not to drown in their grief and to find a way to repair the trauma they’ve experienced.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Your contributions will not only help produce a black & white short film that will be stylized and absorbing; lightening in a bottle with a breathless pace, but it will also be helping with obtaining the following:
Skilled actors
Talented crew
Location fees - The Goal Is Complete!
Equipment rentals
Music
Makeup
Catering
Editing and post production (color correction, titles, sound editing)
With your generous contributions, nothing about The R Word will look or feel artificial. Producing a short film where the topic of rape is at its core, is not a straightforward method. However, with a first-rate cast and crew, I know that we can create something thoughtful and fill each frame with an image that is as gripping as it is harsh.
