We are Faeland, a musical duo committed to writing songs that add something good to existence and connect us with something bigger than ourselves.

We are 100% INDEPENDENT and SELF-FUNDED. Everything you've ever seen and heard from Faeland has been funded by us and our previous crowdfunders. Everything is created and managed by us. We have NO label with tons of cash, no middle man to poke their nose in and NO agenda of some music industry bigwigs - there’s nothing between us, you and our creativity!

The Money

We'll start by raising £10,000, but it will take £60,000+ to truly achieve the dream of recording the most high quality, moving album possible, and promoting it to a wider audience with a full TOUR!

The Plan

The songs are written and aching to get out into the world!

With your support, we’ll go into the studio and pour our hearts and love into every note. We’ll work with producer Stuart McCallum and a group of top quality musicians to create our highest quality recording yet.

We’ll then promote the album to spread this music across the world! If we reach our higher stretch goals, we’ll tour the album more widely.

Here’s a breakdown of the costs involved:

The Team

Producer: Stuart McCallum, producer/guitarist (Cinematic Orchestra, The Breath - nominated for BBC Best Folk Act). It’s our first time working with a producer, and we can’t wait to see how Stuart helps our music reach its highest quality and presents the songs in the best possible way!

Engineer: Patrick Phillips, Real World engineer (Rag’n’Bone Man, Marina and the Diamonds, Peter Gabriel).

Bassist: Ben Nicholls, bass legend (Sam Lee, Martin Simpson, Seth Lakeman, Birdy, Peggy Seeger, Billy Bragg, Jarvis Cocker).

Drummer: Dave Hamblett (Kenny Wheeler, The Magic Lantern). Already exceptional in our first sessions together!

Multi-instrumentalist: Martin Solomon, virtuoso magician who played violin, harp & accordion on our first two albums.

Artwork: Sofja Umarik (Elklore), who created the enchanting animation for our song 'Easier' and beautiful artwork for our second album, When I Close My Eyes.

Photography: Emilie Sandy, visionary talent (BBC, The Times, OK! Magazine, Clash).

If we reach our stretch goals, we can bring in more top professionals to bring this dream into reality: more musicians, mastering engineer, PR, radio plugger, music video makers, digital marketing specialists, tour manager, and more!

Risks & Challenges

We’ve been away for 4 years and there are good reasons for this. Our child is still young and Rebecca still lives with chronic illness (ME/CFS) so family and health MUST come first (we learnt this the hard way!). We've factored this into our timelines, budget, and planning, and if there are any extra delays we'll let you know.

Independent labels typically spend AT LEAST £60,000+ to create and release an album for artists similar to us. It sounds like a lot but once you add up ALL of the professionals involved to execute a project like this - it really does add up! Ideally, we'll make well over £20,000 so that no financial pressure is put on our young family. If we face challenges, we'll scale back and we'll communicate any changes to you with transparency.

However, with your support we feel confident that we can achieve our base goal, and go on to hit some pledge goals! Remember, we've done this TWICE before - and together we can do it again!
