Short Summary
I founded the Revival Festival in 2015 in Vancouver, Canada to showcase the level of high-quality local talent in the area. Now more than ever, we need to show love and appreciation for our independent artists both globally and locally. Since I first visited Colombia in 2015, I fell in love with its people and its land. It’s since been my dream to bring the Revival Festival to the coast of Colombia, where locals share a passionate love of artistic expression but sadly do not have much access to live music. The Revival Festival will be one of the first events of its kind in the area, and we hope it will be a beacon of light for locals and tourists alike.
We are happy to be donating one third of all profits to two charities - the El Rio Foundation and Women for Conservation. The El Rio Foundation focuses on offering educational support and community sport opportunities to the local community, in addition to reforestation and waste management projects. Women for Conservation works to empower women and girls to lead in the field of conservation by providing them with environmental education, resources to implement and complete projects, and access to a network of professional scientists and advisers. Both charities work in the Sierra Nevada to directly support small communities that now, more than ever, need as much help as possible.
By contributing to this campaign, you’re not only helping us bring the magic of live music to Colombia’s coast, but you’re also giving direct support to two extremely important causes.
What We Need
We need your help to raise £8000. This will cover the running costs of the festival including:
- Security – our utmost priority is keeping our guests, performers, and the land safe and secure.
- Licenses and permits – ensuring full compliance with local authorities.
- Medical team – should any accidents or health concerns arise during the event; we will have fully trained medical personnel on-site.
- Toilets and sanitation – for obvious reasons.
- Stage construction – a safe, secure platform for our artists to play.
- Sound and lighting – to bring the magic of our vision to life.
- Artist travel and accommodation – to get our artists safely to and from the event and ensuring they have a safe and comfortable place to rest.
- Water – ensuring our artists, crew and guests have access to clean drinking water.
- Backup power – Generators to mitigate impact of potential power outages.

Risks & Challenges
The volatile political situation in Colombia has always been a problem. The main issue is that the country is constantly in a situation of instability due to potential revolution. However, what is happening there now has been happening in many countries. The youth of today are finally standing up and saying "No More!". This creates a potentially dangerous situation for the people (of the country), especially those who protest, but I believe it will eventually result in change for the better. In all my years visiting Colombia I have never seen extreme violence, and I have only ever witnessed tourism being treated with respect and gratitude. The current problems facing the country have nothing to do with visitors. The unrest is contained in the major cities far from the festival site. On the coast where we are holding the festival there is very little atmosphere from these events, and in general feels much safer. All that said, we do not take security lightly. We will have a specialist security team taking care of us for the duration of the event.
Colombia was affected terribly during the pandemic. At one point it was one of the most affected countries in the world. However, it is predicted that the majority of the population will be fully vaccinated by the beginning of October. The developing world is always impacted more when global events like this happen, and what has affected the country more than the virus itself, is poverty. Colombia is not a welfare state. The people received no governmental help during the pandemic. Colombia relies largely on tourism and trade. Events that bring tourism are more vital than ever. Now is the perfect time to help.
