Our Story

In November 2007, the NFL lost an amazing talent who was on a meteoric rise to be one of the greatest Safety to ever play the game. That player was Sean Michael Maurice Taylor.

When he was taken from us at only 24 years old, we mourned,  we prayed for him and his family; we still miss his presence on the field today. Some may only remember Sean as a hard-hitting Safety, but who was the real Sean Taylor? Why do players entering the league now still say they want to play like Sean?  Who was he beyond football? Beyond the headlines and stadium lights? What kind of legacy has he left behind? When you hear someone say they want to be the best, want to peak at their game, they say, “I want to play like Sean Taylor.”  His story deserves to be told.

In Summer 2019, inspired by the weight that the number 21 jersey still carries, we set out to research and craft a Sean Taylor story, as told through his closest family, friends, teammates, and coaches. The Safety, will be a feature narrative that will bring passion, inspiration, and hard hitting truths behind Sean’s inevitable rise to fame and his tragic death.

Production Status

BeNorth Films has partnered with Pete Taylor, (Sean’s father), Steven Rosenberg (Author of Going Full Speed, the Sean Taylor stories), Santana Moss and Fred Smoot (Former Teammates and friends) to bring the Sean Taylor story to the big screen.

Development on the film began in the summer of 2019, but there’s still much more work to be done to ensure this story be told with the vision, truth, grace, compassion and inspiration that it deserves. 

To do this, to ensure the production of this film, for us to bring his story to life, we ask for the support of you, his fans: those who loves him and will help in the continual fight to keep Sean Taylor’s spirit and memory alive. Or the support of anyone who believes in the power of a good story.

A Story Made by Fans 

As many of you  know, making a film is an incredibly difficult endeavor. As creators, we want to maintain creative control so that Sean’s story can be filtered through the right lenses.

In order to continue this project and get to the next level, we need to secure at least 1/4 of the budget so that we can move into pre-production.  This is where you can impact the story.

We have built several ways for you to get involved and support the project.  All donations big and small will truly make an impact.
