If you have been directed to or otherwise stumbled upon this page, that means we either share similar passions or someone you know and love are involved with the SEEDS Project...and we need your help!
The SEEDS Project is an organization at the University of Richmond in VIrginia. We
develop, plan and execute two service-learning trips that are completely
student driven. We
aim to create a holistic learning experience as well as sustainable relationships with our
community partners by returning each year. After each trip, we share our experiences in a reflective and permanent manner by publishing a journal, that we give to participants and partners, and hosting on-campus events.
When people hear the term “service-learning,” they often only think
about service. For SEEDS, we emphasize both aspects of the experience with the
goal of “learning service.” This term more accurately describes our active
pursuit toward a collective understanding of service. We gain a more
substantial experience by focusing on our location, service projects and
community members. The SEEDS Project sends about twenty students to Louisiana and West Virginia for a week of hard work, meaningful reflection, and new friendships. Both trips learn about socioeconomic and environmental issues through our work
and by building relationships with community members we encounter.
SEEDS
is currently thriving in our 10th year, and remains one of the most
successful student-run service projects at the University. Due to the wide scope and costly nature of the SEEDS project, we must rely on various sources of funding. We need your help in order to cover the cost of transportation, lodging, and food. The cost of one student to go on the trip equates to about $500. We raise this money so we can lower the amount of what each participant has to pay.
Therefore, we ask for your help in our fundraising efforts. With your help, we will be closer to reaching our goal of $2,500, which will make the cost of this trip more affordable for the students at the University of Richmond and will help sustain our program in the long term.
Even if you are unable to financially contribute to our program, please consider forwarding this campaign to any family and friends who may be able to help support us, or share the campaign through any tools on this page!
