What Show?
In the modest town of Greenbelt Maryland
stands Eleanor Roosevelt High School, a high-performing school of academics known for it's academic achievements and athletic triumphs and stats. It is
fair to say there is a certain aspect of the school that is not recognized at all,
though many say it is a very necessary part in any school environment. Performing
Arts.
Performing Arts programs in schools like
dancing, singing, and acting theater promotes dedication, creativity,
social skills, academic potential, and future job potential as well. Apart from
the astounding dance groups and choruses, this high school puts on spectacular
and entertaining performances from Into the Woods, Cheaper by the Dozen, even Grease. But unseen by the
public's eye goes on a show that show that is unrehearsed, unscripted, and just
as captivating.
Eleanor Roosevelt High
School has a close, diverse, talented and gleaming group of students who go
beyond the drama classroom, and make the performances happen! They're the
schools builders, volunteers, leaders, and performers when it comes to putting
on an outstanding theatrical show for the Eleanor Roosevelt community.
Otherwise known as thespians.
These students juggle time and resources, and even sacrifice their academic work on some occasions to meet rehearsal and set deadlines.
It all boils down to the final run- to the first night of the production.
This year, the team
takes on the groovy, entertaining, and trendy musical of Hairspray.
And this year it could quite possibly be the students' biggest musical yet, not
in set design, but in cast.
