About The Show
In February 2016, The Agency Theater Collective is very excited and proud to be producing the world premiere of The Spirit of '76. Deconstructing the (absurd) anti-suffragette play from the turn of the 20th century, The Spirit of ’76, company members Huck Poe and Andrew Gallant, along with co-director Anna Lucero, explode gender, American sexual mores, and politics.
We at The Agency strongly believe in a fresh approach to theater, whether with original scripts or new spins on classics. Agency company member Huck Poe has a developed a new play that is hilarious, confounding, and highly theatrical.
The Spirit of '76 has assembled a stellar cast and crew to bring this new work to life and opens at The Charnel House (3421 Fullerton) on Friday, February 26th.
What We Need and What You Get
Producing a play of any size is a major undertaking and even more so for a young theater company with an original script.
Specifically, your donation will help us pay for: theater rental, costumes, set construction, lighting equipment, sound equipment and marketing costs.
Not only is your donation tax-deductible, we also have some amazing perks from our collaborators. To name a few: a year’s worth of Meisner acting classes at Green Shirt Studio, hand-drawn art, baked goodies, and original music made just-for-you, special guest honors at No Shame Theatre Chicago, handwritten thank you notes, and more. Our perks are many, carefully chosen, and made with tons of love.
The Impact
The Agency Theater Collective has been operating for nearly four years and we are proud of what we've achieved so far. In 2012 we were named runner-up "Best New Theater Company" by the Chicago Reader. The Spirit of '76 will be our fifth world premiere production following the acclaimed original works At the Center and I Wish To Apologize to the People of Illinois. In addition to our main stage shows, we have been running a weekly theatrical open mic, No Shame Theatre Chicago, for over 4 years.
Other Ways You Can Help
